Creative Education – Hackschooling for Happiness and Health as Shared by 13 Year-Old Logan LaPlante
This is an awesome talk by 13 year-old Logan LaPlante that adults and children alike would benefit greatly from watching. I so honor and support his parents choice to pull him from the traditional school system at age 9 (believing as Sir Ken Robinson does that creativity is as important as literacy) and having the courage to take the backlash from other’s criticism, to follow what they felt right for their child based on the values they held important.
You can see from Logan’s talk that he is an amazingly bright and gifted soul that has greatly benefited, not suffered, from this new way of “hackschooling”, as he puts it, which you can learn more about in his TEDx Talk.
Logan shares how he feels the current school system is teaching you how to make a living, not a life. His only goal is to be happy and healthy and the ingredients he feels that lead to this and are important to teach include: exercise, diet and nutrition, time in nature, contribution and service, relationships, relaxation and stress management, and religious and spiritual involvement.
He is a visionary leader and example of the new that we are co-creating.
