Freedom is About the Natural State

“Spiritual people can be some of the most violent people you will ever meet. Mostly, they are violent to themselves. They violently try to control their minds, their emotions, and their bodies. They become upset with themselves and beat themselves up for not rising up to the conditioned mind’s idea of what it believes enlightenment to be. No one ever became free through such violence. Why is it that so few people are truly free? Because they try to conform to ideas, concepts, and beliefs in their heads. They try to concentrate their way to heaven. But freedom is about the natural state, the spontaneous and un-self-conscious expression of beingness. If you want to find it, see that the very idea of ‘a someone who is in control’ is a concept created by the mind. Take one step backward into the unknown.” ~Adyashanti

  5. Dear Tania, I experience this trick of the mind too. I experience my mind as a very tricky thing. I’m going to try and put an observation in words.
Once i’m in a meditative state i notice my mind is recording what the awareness does to me during this state and tries to own it, cause it seems to like it and wants to play a part too… It always wants to play a-part. Translating it into a mind matter. Then when emotions wave into play, my mind tries to get involved and fight these or at the least, judge them. I notice my mind is determined and it seems to always put things in a kind of frame, a perspective. Thereby trying to rob me of the freedom it thinks it wants me to have.

    greetings Ann 🙂

    • hi ann, yes i think we all have a bit of self sabotaging in us all – some more ingenious than others 🙂 it’s something we can learn to repattern back naturally, just as it has been patterned/conditioned to act as such.

      blessings and love to you
