When you were little, were you afraid of the dark? Most of us were. And I doubt we ever thought to question this fear. We were almost naturally taught to be afraid of the dark, because the dark is full of unknown things that might hurt us.

But what usually happened when you turned the light on? You learned the unknown things were not so scary. And they were not so unknown. They were just part of the environment.

We learned to associate darkness with scary and unknown, and we learned it’s better not to speak with our dark thoughts and emotions. 1. Reading this makes me want to re-read “Dark Side of the Light Chasers” which is a good self help book about shadowork. Just its packaged for the mainsteam (ie no New Age terms). It is still a very good book. Are there other good books on Shadowork?

  2. Thanks for sharing this Tania. I have been thinking a lot about my shadow and shadow work in general and this article spoke to me.

There is just so much fluff out there about light and light workers and the goals of living as a human. The more we learn to trust ourselves, the better, Looking at and coexisting with our darkness ( and healing and transforming what we find to be toxic) is a path towards trust.

    • you’re welcome linda. i think shadow work is becoming more prominent, as you are correct…there is so much fluff around people are discovering that that only takes you so far. we can’t run, hide, or suppress all of our parts. and when we integrate them, then we find our true power from that wholeness.

      love and hugs!
