Another cycle approaches, as Winter winds down and Spring is soon to sprout through. What does February’s Winter celebration of St. Valentine and March’s explosion of Spring have in common? They both coincidentally share the reverence of “green symbolism” – more notably, the Heart Chakra. How can this be, you ask, as you are so used to those pink and red hearts and roses you see abound on Valentine’s Day?
Well, both carry an air of blossoming new hope and renewal of joyful splendor, where matters of the heart and life are concerned. Pink AND green, both coincidentally are representative of the energy of the Heart Chakra. Although green is the primary color used with it, it can also be effective to use pink stones (such as Rose Quartz) if they resonate for you, to bring in their softness, in working with the Heart Chakra.
Green is a color that represents many things to many people–a melting pot of symbolism. The word green is closely related to the Old English verb growan, meaning “to grow.” Everything blooming, growing…a never-ending, cyclical process. Growth is our natural state and anything less than this, simply is “unnatural.” Speaking of which, the most common association for green seems to be found in its ties to nature, naturally.
Romans used green holly and evergreen as decorations for their winter solstice celebration, Saturnalia, which evolved into a green celebration called Christmas. It is also the traditional color of Islam and was symbolic of resurrection and immortality in Ancient Egypt, where the god Osiris was also depicted as green-skinned. Irish legend states that green clothes attract faeries and aid crops and the “Wearing of the Green” thus symbolizes the birth of springtime. It is known to signify witchcraft for its association with spirits of early English folklores and literatures that also traditionally use it to symbolize nature and its embodied attributes of life, fertility, and rebirth.
In metaphysics, the Seven Rays system of Alice Bailey, which classifies different metaphysical personality types of humans, designates those of the third ray of creative intelligence as being “on the Green Ray,” while psychics who see auras refer to those with a green aura as typically having health/healing related occupations and being nature lovers. To me, green is the earth and it’s gardens and the caring for it. It’s the color that stimulates transformation, harmony, fertility, abundance and prosperity, endurance, stability, and regal presence. It represents safe passage (like the green traffic light), balances emotions, calms, and is also the alchemy of consciousness from one realm to another through the spiraling energies of DNA. The feeling of green is earthy and yet still feels very much like liquid, with a fluidity that is enchanting. Think enchanted forest or Emerald Bay of Lake Tahoe, Nevada.
And yet mostly, for me, green denotes love.
It is in the stories of the medieval period and in Hinduism that we come to learn how green is a true expression of the all-encompassing heart. Medieval stories portrayed it as representing love and the base, natural desires of man, while the Hindu’s use it to symbolically represent the fourth or Heart Chakra. You see, not only is pink indicative of love and the heart, but green is also a very powerful color linked with unconditional love.
In the human energy system, the source of powerful and creative, unconditional love lies at the center of your chest in the Heart Chakra, or “Anahata,” in Sanskrit. This fourth Chakra also lies center of our Chakra energy system and is the most powerful energy, in my opinion, that exists. It acts as a bridge between the upper and lower three Chakras; a bridge between all worlds and illusionary divisions, and a bridge that integrates and balances opposites (body and spirit, male and female, persona and shadow, ego and unity). It is symbolized by a lotus of twelve petals and the color green, with emerald as one of its associated gemstones. It is from this place of peaceful centeredness that love emanates as divine power.
As our Heart Chakra, green has great healing power and protective qualities. It is the one thing we humans can use powerfully when we learn to naturally access it and stay centered in the presence of it’s energy constantly. The Heart Chakra is an impenetrable force of healing that has no boundaries or limitations. It asks that we see, feel, think, and act on a whole other level that is motivated by nothing more than love. When we come from the purity of our hearts and commit to that compassion and acceptance, it implores us to embrace the essence of our being and know the beauty of all of existence, as an extension of ourselves.
The Heart Chakra is the jewel of all Chakras, and its green energy is the emerald beauty of all gems.
It was this journey of the heart that became the inspiration behind creating my compassionately conscious business, Emerald Bridge – a merging of body and spirit through the heart with visionary healing arts services. Emerald Bridge was born to reflect and embody this divine and powerful essence of the Heart Chakra and its integrative, healing synergy, helping to spread unconditional love across the globe.
The Irish also have a beautiful symbol that embodies this Heart Chakra essence – the Claddagh ring. It has a history dating back to over 300 years and is one of history’s most meaningful and respected jewels. The features of the Claddagh ring symbolize some of the best virtues of human life. The heart held in the hands show love and the hands represent friendship and togetherness, the crown on the heart symbolizes loyalty–all virtues that have increasingly been forgotten in today’s materialistic world. No wonder many people remain fascinated by this Irish ring. People wish that some things would never change. And even though change is natural and inevitable, the core foundation of love that has transcended time, is one thing it wouldn’t hurt to hold on to, and could only benefit us more as we deepen and broaden through its evolvement. Our values and how we treat and honor ourselves, others, and everything around us are telling of what we see as our creation, in respect. Another description of the ring expresses how the heart represents the hearts of each and every member of mankind, in addition to the element which gives everlasting music to the Gael. (Remember that springtime song of birds and love ringing in our ears). The ring is also based on and directly correlative to the Shamrock, one of the oldest symbols of the Holy Trinity among the Irish. This interpretation describes the crown as a symbol of the Father, the left hand as the Son, and the right hand as the Holy Spirit, all caring for the heart in the center, symbolizing humanity. Throughout each varying symbolism, a single theme shines through, specifically that the ring symbolizes the trinity of “Love, Loyalty, and Friendship” or, in Gaelic, “Grá, Dílseacht agus Cairdeas” (pronounced ‘graw, dealshocked ogis cordiss’).
“The hands are there for friendship,
The heart is there for love.
For loyalty throughout the year,
The crown is raised above.”
Through that emerald glow of love, we can create and be in that loving energy any moment of the eternity of our lives. And the more we share our green, we can carpet the earth with velvet lawns of unconditional experience. Wearing love and life on our sleeves for always. Let us remember and reflect while we embrace the opportunity to begin anew, by planting tomorrow-seeds, in the now of today.
On this Valentine’s Day I would like to plant the seed of “presence of gratitude and love” daily. As always, these day markers are wonderful times to consciously remind yourself of things you may not be so present with during the day-to-day goings on. Unconditional love and sharing your gratitude in ways that let your loved ones, family, friends, and even people you meet on the street, or connect with in a thought, and see or read about remotely, know that they are cherished, beloved, valuable children of the Universe. And yes, that includes you.
As you connect more deeply with yourself, humanity, and all of creation far and wide you come to experience the true freedom of your core, luminous being.
Let your intuition and heart be your guidance and your trust, belief, imagination, passion, and connection, your wings to get there. It is hard to wrap our minds around things because the truth is, it is the heart that has to touch it.
Perhaps we’ll start seeing the giving of green hearts and plants with heart-shaped leaves like the Emerald Ripple, Heart Fern, Heart-Leaf Philodendron, or English Ivy for Valentine’s Day. While flowers are beautiful, plants are “green.”
(Plants can help slow down global warming by a method known as Carbon offset) – LOVE yourself, LOVE each other, LOVE all of life, and LOVE this Earth!
I hope you enjoy these expressions of love to carry with you and through you every mindful moment of your life:

Empowering Your Heart Chakra – Reflections, Meditative Tools and My Inspirations Behind Emerald Bridge
After posting about the new Emerald Bridge Empowered Heart Chakra, sacred temporary tattoos, I felt guided to expound upon the Heart Chakra and its powerfully healing energy – LOVE – as we can’t get too much of it and we definitely could use more of it!
In the human energy system, the source of powerful and creative, unconditional love energy lies at the center of your chest in the Heart Chakra, or “Anahata,” in Sanskrit. From its middle position as fourth in a system of seven chakras, it is the balancing integrator of opposites (between body and spirit, male and female, persona and shadow, ego and unity) and acts as an energetic “bridge” between the lower and upper chakras. It is symbolized by a lotus of twelve petals and the color green, with emerald as one of its associated gemstones. It is from this place of peaceful centeredness that love emanates as divine power.
This is the foundation of, and inspiration behind, my company, Emerald Bridge, and its compassionately conscious focus that fuses visionary services and creations. The name was born as a reflection of the divine and powerful essence of the Heart Chakra and its integrative, healing synergy. I was guided to birth this energy as the foundation and focus of my company and then designed a symbol that would embody the essence of this energy, as well as be a visual activation and meditative tool to encourage taking courageous steps in following your heart’s joy and to shift into new realities of experience.
Love is the most powerful energy in the Universe and is a vital energy to be focusing on every moment of every day, more so now, if you aren’t already doing this, than ever. Holding your hand over your heart with conscious connection, for even just minutes a day, can help you to stay present in your heart, help heal and open it to greater depths. Ask for help in doing so from your guides, angels, your Source connection and even ask your essence to be present in your higher heart always.
I like to sit quietly and imagine and visualize, as I breath in deeply, divine, luminous, love like a chord of energy come through my Crown Chakra from Universal Source, moving in liquid warmth down through all of my Chakras (illuminating each with balance and opening) and once it gets to the Root Chakra, to continue down and out through my feet, making its way into the ground beneath me and penetrating through to Earth’s core, anchoring there and absorbing Mother Earth’s nurturing warmth. Then moving back up to the surface, back through my feet and on its way up again through my Root Chakra and continuing up, this time stopping at my Heart Chakra, integrating this Divine Cosmic and Earth energy love as a well of empowered nurturing and healing I can draw upon and disperse from to all areas of my experience needed. And then once I feel this integration has taken place, I then exhale out, as I visualize this beautiful love energy emanating out through my heart and all around me to others, the Earth, intentions…the collective, in a beautifully explosive luminosity of emerald liquid love (you can also visualize it as pink, or whatever symbolically feels right to associate the energy as for you.) I hold the energy of unconditional love and compassion, while doing this and send it out towards everything, including myself, for the highest good of all concerned. Most know there to be 7 major Chakras, but there is information that shares there to be 12, 13, etc. Chakras, depending on which school of belief/thought one subscribes to. By doing this visualization, you will be hitting all of them, as you extend above and below, through your entire body, and out of your body in all directions.
Today I wanted to reflect on the Heart Chakra energy, as empowering it through healing reflection and intentful presence will create a rippling effect across your entire life’s experiences, as well as the lives of those you touch, seen and unseen. Unconditional love shifts the collective every time we choose it. The key is to have it be like breathing – for now needs conscious intent until it becomes instinctive, second nature.
Here are some Heart Chakra inspired sharings from others. You can read the whole post at the links provided:
The heart chakra is considered to be the love center of our human energy system. Among others, love, heartbreak, grief, pain, and fear, are all emotions that are felt intensely within this energy vortex. For this reason, energy-based therapies that focus on balancing the heart chakra are often the purest healing. The heart chakra is the place where unconditional love is centered. Unconditional Love is a creative and powerful energy that may guide and help us through the most difficult times. This energy is available in any moment, if we turn our attention to it and use it to free us from our limits and fears. Opening Your Heart’s Emotional Power to Transform by Christopher Stewart
The heart stands at the center of all energies and unifies our being as a whole. It is the point around which all the energies turn. A discord or imbalance in the heart chakra will adversely effect all the other centers. A clearing of the heart chakra will improve the interaction of all the other centers. It is important to maintain a balance to all the energy centers so a healthy level of awareness is manifested in our everyday lives. It is imperative, now, that we keep our hearts open, and replace judgments with acceptance. It is vital that we learn to love even more, and to allow ourselves to be loved. We must relate in our relationships, and use communication to clear misunderstandings and disagreements. When we can keep ourselves in a loving space, we will have a positive effect on our environment, a healing effect. A Healer’s View of AIDS by Martin Brofman
When the heart chakra is out of balance you may feel sorry for yourself, paranoid, indecisive, afraid of letting go, afraid of getting hurt, or unworthy of love. Physical illnesses include heart attack, high blood pressure, insomnia, and difficult in breathing. When the heart chakra is balanced you may feel compassionate, friendly, empathetic, desire to nurture others and see the good in everyone. Body parts for the fourth chakra include heart, lungs, circulatory system, shoulders, and upper back. The Seven Major Chakras by Kellie Jo Conn
This piece is extremely unique. Photos will never capture its beauty. It changes shades of color depending on how the light hits it. It will at times seem amber with darker brown inclusions, then it will also turn olive green and when held to direct light, will be pale yellow. It is a fantastic and potent tektite. It has portals and many unique inclusions and small rocks amidst the meteoric silica. The shape is also quite extraordinary. The first time I saw it, I felt buffalo instantly, as it has the distinct shape and energy of a buffalo head. You may also see it as an arrowhead or triangular pyramid. This is a very powerful piece that definitely is very unisex.
“Cosmic Bridge Builder” measures about 1 7/8″ long and about 1 1/8″ at the widest point. It is quite substantial at a little over 1″ thick. Parts of it are translucent and others are deeply layered. There is the feeling of an energy or world within an energy/world and the feeling of galaxies within this living being. It is like an ancient, cosmic entity that is alive with brain activity. A compact powerhouse!

The images below show the variations in color, depending on the lighting. From darker (olive green), to medium (amber), to light (golden yellow). Amazing!
We are involved in an evolutionary process of our human existence wherein the collective
consciousness has been moving through the energy centers of the Chakra system. By fully embracing Chakra Four, we find balance and the ability to propel into the next dimensions. Life is a continual, progressive opportunity. This Fourth (or Heart Chakra) lies center of the Chakra system and acts as integrator of the two polarities of body and spirit. It creates a bridge that merges and disintegrates all boundaries and allows us access to our true essence and the sharing of that with others.
In order to access its energy we need to create balance and harmony between all polarities, which is inclusive of all aspects that are represented by the active male and passive female archetypes (including the dual counterpart within each) within self and without; those of
light and shadow, mind and body, physicality and spirituality, conscious and
subconscious, harmony between races, and ecological balance. The focus is
that of integration. All aspects are essential and each an important tool in their own way, enabling us to honor, as a unit, the heart, body, mind and soul, Earth, and all of creation. The Collective Consciousness is at the brink of a paradigm shift that we are all a part of, but with awareness, can now actively take part in.
Cellular memories compel us to perpetuate repeated experiences until we have
learned to choose from a higher good and with a shift of perspective. Realizing
that change is necessary and embracing the process will help support guidance
into the higher frequencies of the energy centers within each Chakra, beginning
with the Heart (Fourth Chakra) – The Bridge. Or as I like to call it, the
It is through Universal Love, embracing the value and beauty of
creation in its many forms, and dispelling of fear that we can come together
and heal our Earth. Living consciously and compassionately for all of creation
is crucial so that we may realign with the Cosmos. Universal Love and Harmony is
needed to bring us to higher frequencies of being in the New Age that is upon us. The time is now with no further excuses. The time is now for dispelling of all fear and to remember. The time is now for coming together, for realizing your authenticity, and to see beyond the veil. The time is now for unconditional compassion at the deepest heart-core level.
“The greatest wisdom is in simplicity,” Mr Barrios advised before leaving Santa Fe. “Love, respect, tolerance, sharing, gratitude, forgiveness. It’s not complex or elaborate. The real knowledge is free. It’s encoded in your DNA. All you need is within you. Great teachers have said that from the beginning. Find your heart, and you will find your way.” Carlos Barrios is the author of Kam Wuj: El Libro del Destino, a book published in Spanish that explores Mayan teachings.

The paraphrased words on Moldavite from “Love is in the Earth” author, Melody: “A pathway of inter-dimensional access to the highest Galactic energies, bringing higher thought forms and patterns through to the Earth plane. A multi-dimensional passage into other realms” equally apply to Libyan Desert Glass. The difference between the two being that Libyan Desert Glass is said to operate with direct focus on the Vishudda (throat) and Anahata (heart) centers, rather than operating in the higher Chakra realms. This quality of its essence creates a source and contact for universal love and harmony, as it acts as a channel for bringing Cosmic energies directly into the center of being. It is for this reason that Libyan Desert Glass was the jewel of Tutankhamen, designed to be worn over the heart in his breastplate, making it a highly sought out gemstone of the pharaohs and royalty.
As a tektite, it is very unusual in being nearly clear and a beautiful pale yellow to green and sometimes with touches of amber to greenish brown color. The vast majority of tektites (natural glass rocks up to a few centimeters in size, which scientists say are formed by the impact of large meteorites on Earth’s surface) are black, with the exception of the beautiful cosmic green Moldavite. This shining impact Libyan Desert Glass ranges from opaque to translucent. Sometimes golden in hue and even with white opaque areas, Libyan Desert Glass also varies in surface texture from having an extremely smooth quality to being covered with small to medium sized, circular indentations, reminiscent of the lunar surface.
Known to scientists since the 1930’s, it is believed, according to scientific knowledge, that this tektite emerged from a collision of a meteorite with Earth nearly 29 million years ago (about 28.5 to be more precise) and is found only in a remote area of the Great Sand Sea of Egypt near the Libyan border. Relatively abundant, they are found in massive deposits with some estimates saying there may be as much as 40,000 tons of it lying on the surface of the desert amongst a small area measuring approximately 130 x 52 km. To others, the origin of Libyan Desert Glass still remains a mystery, with some attributing their existence to an ancient nuclear explosion, others to involvement with extraterrestrial activities, some believing they are pieces of our moon, but modern science explains their creation as result of a meteor impact, although no crater of suitable size or other evidence in support of this has ever been found nearby. Regardless of their mysterious creation, it is for sure they are of extraterrestrial origin.
Libyan Desert Glass is an exceptionally pure form of primarily silica glass formed at extremely high temperatures, too high for normal volcanic activity. According to the impact theory of a meteor striking the Earth’s sand, which is also composed of primarily silica (silicon dioxide), it caused a fusion of sand with intense heat and pressure. Yet, there is research that supports this theory to be incorrect based on homogeneity studies, which in summary show that thin segments of thousands of studied tektites were found to be virtually free of structural inclusions, except for small bubbles. Impact glasses, such as obsidian, will always contain terrestrial inclusions due to the impact of Earth by heated material. Noted homogeneity also was found in individual tektites discovered side by side or fused together exhibiting significant differences.
This, along with typical meteoric material and the high iridium content (an indicator for extraterrestrial origin) being present indicate their classing as tektite, but it may also be that these tektites were formed by a glancing blow from some large extraterrestrial object. The truth may never be known, but there is much speculation and disagreement, you can imagine. Regardless, this ancient stone has been around for quite some time.
The Stone-Age people knew this tektite very well, discovering the glass in the Paleolithic period and lived in the area hundreds of thousands of years ago before it became desert. They had pragmatic ways of using the stone in tools, where it was used as substitute for flint stone in the form of sharp blades and graters. Yet, its the ancient Egyptians that found less practical uses for this “special” stone, as they considered it to be very precious and to hold powerful energy. By the time of the great Egyptian Pharaohs, the area was only accessible by hardy nomads who must have traded regularly with those living in the Nile valley. Therefore, due to its rarity and esoteric value, it became part of religious objects such as the scarab-carved amulet of Tutankhamen, as the centerpiece of his pectoral breastplate. For it to have been carved in the form of a scarab, which is the symbol of the Sun-god Ra, would seem to indicate that the ancient Egyptians were aware of its powerful cosmic connections that this stone draws in.
Today, Libyan Desert Glass is not only a valued and pricey gem beauty for collectors, but its esoteric energies attributed to this “rock of the god” are vastly potent. Its high costs are attributed to the cost of retrieving it on remote expedition from the uninhabitable desert. Yet, its amazing qualities, priced similarly to Moldavite, are well worth the cost to at least own one in your collection. Only recently have those working with stones and crystals started to realize and understand the huge potential that these unique tektites offer.
Some of the metaphysical properties include a long and prosperous life, balancing of male and female polarities, stimulating growth and karmic completion, strengthening the auric field, facilitating communication between the third dimension and the origin of the gem, tool for meditating and connecting with other realms and advanced consciousness, stimulating increased cosmic flow, which can result in acceleration of heart rate, spacey feeling and out-of-body experiences, strengthening and energizing the heart and chest areas and said to bring the holder great luck by ancient cultural belief. It is also a stone of teaching and resonates strongly with the energy of the Hermit card of the Major Arcana of the Tarot deck; the wise teacher who looks within for answers of the universe and receives in silence.
The way that they create inter-dimensional connections between many realms, lends energy to seeing them as “bridge builders” helping to integrate and harmonize all of existence through heart-blending at a universal, collective consciousness level. This energy, amongst others, will become increasingly important and essential as we shift our consciousness and vibrations into that of the new Golden Age of being.
