Sacred Tattoo Designs with Dual Symbolism Superimposed – Whale/Butterfly & Scarab/Earth Mother Goddess

I had the opportunity again to work with one of my cherished clients and friends, Mari. You may remember her from my post “An Inside Look At One Soul’s Sacred Tattoo Experience – Mari’s Journey with ‘Spiritual Skin‘”. It’s been so incredible working with her as she creates her own soul’s journey through sacred body art that speaks to her unique soul essence. We’ve created several pieces together and I was excited to work with her again to create a couple more, which are today’s highlights.

As always, I marvel at the divine timing and what aligns with the process when creating these sacred pieces. It’s always so beautiful when direct messages, confirmations and support come through, as with the recent Incan tattoo designs I created, when Moth showed up to chime in with her wisdom in agreement. The designs also seem to be aligned with Reiki workshops I teach, which then also adds to the potency of the energy imbued within the designs, as well as align with astrological influences like the Moon phases, Cardinal Cross, and other intensified energies.

reiki (3)I’ve been following my client wait list in order, but arrived at working on Mari’s in beautiful synchronicity. Her designs were also graced with these types of energetic influences, as I had begun the first of the two the day before teaching a Reiki 3 Master Teacher Workshop for which I was preparing. I thought that very appropriate and empowering for the essence of this “ring” we were co-creating. More on it below.

whale

Silvery gray of whale shining in the sun at center/top, as she surfaces and spouts

And right as I had begun the second piece for her foot, I was called to take an ocean-side break and was immediately upon sitting down to relax on the beach and read, met by a mother Grey Whale and her baby swimming by, which was so supportive and inspiring, not to mention confirming for the piece that included Whale wisdom in it.

whale6

Here you can see a whale watching boat, as well as leisure boat have spotted the whale and her baby, as they move. Whale is in front of the left boat where you see the mist of her spout and darker body surfacing

Not long after, a large pod of Dolphins also came through and I just felt in the flow once again and also knew that the feelings and visions I was receiving from them were to be captured in the piece. More on that below as well.

So it was another interesting and beautiful journey, to say the least, in co-creating these pieces and I’m grateful for the energies the Universe aligns me with, in guiding support during the process.

Since I just shared the Whale images (although not all that great of photos), I thought I’d first share on the foot design that incorporates Whale energy.

When I saw Whale on Saturday it reminded me of that powerful day, just a few weeks back that I blogged about, when the whales were bursting through the waters and jumping and splashing and just in total joy and bliss.

I felt that a Whale (which Mari was wanting incorporated into the design) that is not just one swimming through the seas of experience, but one that is penetrating the very veils of illusions with pure joy of authenticity from heart, was to be. The Whale depicted in this piece is thrusting in joy through the ocean’s surface, but also penetrating the veils between Earth and Cosmos, between self and other, consciousness and unconsciousness – bringing a knowingness and beingness of both at once.

Whales are cosmic beings that use their abilities to communicate through sound and message us about our true origins and authenticity. For more on Whale symbolism please visit: Whale Song

Sacred Tattoo Design - Foot Healing MandalaBut if you look very closely, you will see that Whale is also a Butterfly. For more on Butterfly symbolism you can visit: Butterfly Messengers.

See how Whale’s tail fins are the body of the Butterfly and body is the larger part of her wing, and fin makes up part of her lower wing. I created a spherical shape, but organic in nature with use of flowing water, spirals, energy, leaves and Plumeria (as my client had seen this as a healing Mandala and I also saw it as a portal or gateway).

There are two planets to the right, or could be a Full Moon and Sun. I also felt called to include a simple version of the Hunab Ku to demonstrate the Galactic nature of this piece in harmony with Earth – a return to natural harmony within and without. Hunab Ku is also known as the Galactic Butterfly, which is what is created here both as this more organic Butterfly with Whale as part of her shared essence of her wing AND as the Hunab Ku cosmic essence Butterfly.

Air and Water elements being highlighted a bit more, along with Spirit yet with an Earth connecting factor. Mari already has a lot of Fire and Earth and with a serpent on her right leg, this felt very balancing on her left foot where it will go.

I immediately had mentioned to Mari that I was sensing this sort of Polynesian, Mayan, Cosmic quality to the design and that is what I feel manifested. I was also receiving Plumeria as inspiration and when I looked into more of what it symbolized, I realized why.

Plumeria symbolism includes natural beauty, charm, grace, new life, new beginnings, creation and recreation, the Sun, perfection of all things as is, dedication, devotion, love, immortality, healing powers, liveliness, life and birth. They span many cultures in their symbolic meaning and reverence including being very important to both Hawaiian and Mayan cultures 🙂 , but also Hindu, South Indian, Buddhist, Chinese, Vietnamese, etc…

So there is so much celebration of life from the heart of hearts here. And I see it as a gateway she will walk forward into with each step, bringing in a new, vibrant, joyous energy that is birthing with all the shifts and upcoming newness in her life. It is a beautiful new layer of the onion, so to speak, revealing more of her deep personal frequency that is of and beyond this world, which many may not have seen of her yet. Very powerful, but in a gentle and beautiful way of grace and flow. It is centered, but organic in nature and can bring the experience of always feeling centered no matter how things are flowing outside – movement with cycles rather than with a rigid plan. There’s also a sense of abundance and true joy as she activates her Galactic “Nature” even more.

Sacred Tattoo Design - RingThen we move on to the second which is created to be worn as a ring – a wedding band so to speak that celebrates the sacred union with self. Being a ring, it is done in very simple and clear lines (open design line work) – like the henna work I have on my own hand and fingers. Fingers and hands are tricky in being able to ink and how they will wear over time. So it is best to keep them simple and defined.

This design, like the Whale/Butterfly is dual in nature as well, which was tricky. I had immediately for this piece been feeling Egyptian and Earth Priestess/Divine Feminine energy, and that is what is represented.

It took me a while to get the right design that would work dualistically, but also be very simple, yet potent. But it happened and what came through was the energy of the Scarab and the Earth Mother Goddess (Gaia).

For more on Scarab symbolism please see: Sacred Scarab

Within the design at top is a simple Lotus that has a bit of an Egyptian flair to it. I created 3 dots around it, sort of providing a subtle Henna quality, but can also represent the Trinity, Triple Goddess energy, the Maiden, Mother, Crone, etc.

Now if we skip below that and you look at center of the band, there is a simple heart-like design (felt very important to have all things come and stem from the/her heart). This heart acts dually as the body of the Scarab and the body of the more primitive Earth Mother Goddess design. To the left and right are the wings of the Scarab that create the band and will come to a point at back under the finger. I kept them simple but they are spread open to produce freedom energy. They also balance the Scarab/Goddess.

Below, coming just slightly down over knuckle into hand, is a design that could be both a leaf (to draw energy in and be the grounding Earthiness, as well as root of the Lotus), but can also be another set of wings (as the mirror to each other) that have come to rest together creating hands in prayer position, much like that centering at heart we do in meditation, and in receiving and giving blessing and honoring to self and others (Namaste).

Above the heart design is the stylized head of the Scarab, as well as the Goddess. Coming out on both sides are the Scarab’s legs, but also the Goddess’s arms stretched above holding the Sun Disk (Source within her and representative of the Great Central Sun). This reflecting connection to it, honoring of it, and always walking in the reflection and grace of the truth within that Source.

It’s a small piece, but amazing what can be achieved with just the right tweaks. The ring band will sit where a band would usually, with the lower leaf/wings coming down into hand a bit (balancing a design she already has moving up the hand on the right), and reaching past the first finger knuckle to create an elongated design down part of the length of her finger, coming to rest in between the two top knuckles.

Really grateful to support Mari with her beautiful journey. And it looks like we will be partnering again down the road soon. So stay tuned for more with Mari and me. 🙂 I love that I finished writing this at 11:11 am here.

Galactic Butterfly Activation – New Sacred Tattoo Design

Galactic Butterfly ActivationAnother amazing journey into the realm of sacred tattoos comes to closure. I have a special affinity to this one, as it shares a symbol I wear on my own “Spiritual Skin” – Hunab Ku, otherwise known as the Galactic Butterfly.

And so it is, that I was honored to bring to life the Galactic Butterfly’s Realm in my own interpretation for a sacred tattoo. I got to play with this in my painting, “Spirit” – part of my “In Lak’ech” series, but was excited with the creative challenge to focus on an alchemical infusion for sacred body art.

I even have a sore thumb where it connects to my hand and into my forearm, from focused work on this piece. Another reason I spread my work out, as it is important to keep my “tools” – hands in tact for all of the healing arts work that they do. Yes, even artists and healers have work challenges they need to be mindful of and keep in balance, otherwise we can’t work! And that includes our ability to take care of our needs first, so we have more to give – something important for everyone.

But back to this sacred body art, I was just so excited by what channeled through and its timing of completion comes right before I go in tomorrow for my own sacred piece and celebratory closure of my tattoo journey. Love that this is the piece sending me off! Hunab Ku – One Giver of Movement and Measure. My very first two tattoos were a butterfly and this symbol. 😉

first sacred pieceThis piece is a counterpart to another sacred piece I had already co-created with my client (pictured left). This one will continue moving the energy up and through her Chakras and into the wholeness of that completion, illumination, activation, channeling the Divine Feminine, bringing harmonic balance, and anchoring authentic truth, power, and freedom that was intended.

It is intended to sit at the upper back and will start from the bottom of the neck/throat Chakra (the tip just reaching up over the back of the collar bone) and then flowing down and coming to sit somewhere mid-back. The design will flow over the Throat, Higher Heart, and Heart Chakras, and draw energy into the Solar Plexus, where the other design is also drawing up into. It is quite large at about 14 inches long from top to bottom and at the widest area at the bottom where the Lotuses are, it’s about 13 inches wide.

The elements that came through include, as shared, the Mayan Hunab Ku at the top – the Galactic Butterfly, which I channeled into my own interpretation of its magnificent Cosmic essence – creating an organic petal or flame like opening at top of its wings. Could be both Sun and Moon energy in the top portion of design as well.

Then three, 7 pointed Star Lotuses as that Trinity energy, as well as an interpretive 7 pointed Faery Star – also known as the Pleiadian Star and gateway to the Otherworld. They are guarded by two graceful butterflies that come from the realm of the Galactic Butterfly and signify also transformation, celebration, transition, lightness, soul, time, grace, elegance, freedom, joy and bliss, miracles, flexibility, cycles of life, creativity, gentleness, preciousness of life, as well as the medicine the ability and clarity of mind needed before self-transformation.

The energy from the Star Lotuses flows down into organic Lotuses of the Earth – bridging Cosmos and Earth. And these Lotuses are surrounded by water for that flow with the sea of life and ability to change with grace.

Down the center, the Galactic Butterfly’s bottom winged energies flow into an Infinity energy (mirroring my client’s other piece and keeps the energy moving up and down) through the third Star Lotus that then turns into the water below. I worked in some similar flows from the other piece, so they work in balance and some of this design will likely be stippled like the other in some of the areas, which will tie it in and look ethereal and lovely.

Under the center Star Lotus, is my interpretation of a cosmic Bee or Queen Bee, if you will, that came through.

Bee symbolizes understanding female warrior energy, connection to the Goddess Diana, reincarnation, the power of community and harmony, importance of our place in the collective, productivity, service for a greater good, concentration, prosperity, fertility, and sexuality. The Bee is also a symbol for accomplishing the impossible and anything you put your mind to, as aerodynamically its body is too large for its wings and should not be able to fly.

The Bee reminds you to extract the honey of life (that empowerment of fun, joy, opening your heart to the epitome of love and life and to life fully and uninhibitedly). The Bee also makes our lives fertile with ideas, creativity, and productivity with the promise of fulfillment if we pursue our dreams. Its honeycomb, a hexagon, is the symbol of the heart and represents the sweetness of life found within your own heart and is also the symbol of the sun and its energies. The Bee reminds you to savor the honey of life, do all you can do to make your life fertile and examine your life to make it more efficient and supportive.

The Bee also is a strong symbolism of the circle of life and balance that they create, as such an important part of our ecosystem. Bees are also considered messengers of the Gods and are associated with the Sun and the Goddess according to Druid beliefs. In Hinduism the Bee relates to Vishnu, Krishna, or Kama. In Egypt, the Bee symbolized royalty. In Greece, it was the symbol of the Eleusinian Mysteries and the Celts associated the Bee with hidden wisdom.

I am always in awe of what channels through and this, to me, is simply alchemical magick.

Enchanting Shaman’s Necklace Sacred Tattoo Design ~ Earth, Sea & the Eternal Mystery

Magickal Shaman Necklace Sacred TattooAnother magickal sacred tattoo design journey came to closure while I was away in Utah. As I mentioned recently, there has been a lot of beautiful shamanic and integrative energy of Earth and Cosmos flowing in through the collective hearts. And that means for me, tapping into the energies I really love when creating these powerful and unique reflections.

I love that I was able to work on and complete the full process while I was away in Utah’s nature. It is beautiful country there and being in the enchanting snow, mountains and forests was great energy to immerse in for channeling this piece.

However, the piece channeled through in vision and essence when I visited the beach here at Crystal Cove, right before leaving to Utah, and then came into manifestation on my trip. This combination helped to integrate the perfect blend of energy my client had wanted. It’s always is a treat to see how things unfold when you flow with where you are guided, as my beach walk was a last minute embrace, which proved fruitful in anchoring the energies of both Sea and Earth.

Hence, the energy of this sacred tattoo is an infusion of Sea, Earth and Cosmos into a magickal/shaman blend that has sort of an enchanting, light, graceful, yet potent feel to it. The essence of things my client had expressed came through in imagery that sort of melds into almost an enchantress who has descended from the stars to nurture and seed the earth she loves. So, while connected to that ancient Earth energy, it is also otherworldly and demonstrative of the reason that brought her to Earth to share and support what she loves.

It also integrates light and shadow aspects that meet in harmony through the heart and voice (which is where they will sit on the Heart and Throat Chakra areas). It was an exciting evolution to witness and feel the design unfolding, as well as to experience the transitions of my client from tattoo to tattoo we’ve co-created together. Major shifts indeed that mirror the seasons of change.

This sacred tattoo design is quite large and will drape from left (Wolf) to right (Raven) of neck, cascading down into the décolleté – creating an enchanting, alive shaman’s necklace. From the sides of neck, it will then sort of flow down the skin at the base of neck, and where neck and chest and neck and between the shoulders connects.

In between Raven and Wolf is this flow of Earth, Sea, and Cosmos energy melding together a nautilus shell, hummingbird, flowers, fan shell, watery waves, feathers, cosmic stars, and a butterfly, to represent the Galactic Butterfly (or Hunab Ku) symbolism.

I love how the hummingbird hovers at the Heart Chakra and at center of this shapeshifting tapestry, since legends say that hummingbirds float free of time, carrying our hopes for love, joy, and celebration. The hummingbird’s delicate grace reminds us that life is rich, beauty is everywhere, every personal connection has meaning and that laughter is life’s sweetest creation – perfect mirroring essence for my client’s evolutionary and miraculous journey.

Some times I like to refrain from describing too much, as I like the designs to speak for themselves, relative to the viewer and wearer. In this case, I would love to share what my client expressed about it, as she so beautifully expressed the essence of her piece that I had felt channeling through her in energy and visuals. She speaks the language of my visions and I feel that her expression demonstrates how an open channel created between myself and each soul I co-create with, can result in a perfectly reflective connection during the process that does not need to be communicated in words, yet is received in heart and mind, telepathically.

In my client’s own words about her Spiritual Skin:

“It is an amazing piece.  Very much what I am feeling within.   I do love all the symbolism.  I also see a great-bodied snake right under Wolf, going into the nautilus shell.  I love the subtle designs on that part, as well as how it flows into the shell.  The feathers coming down on each side are graceful and flowing.  Wolf and Raven at the top are just as I feel them – Guardians.

As Wolf, I keep my nose close to the ground for the next scent.  I mostly know and am sure of where I am now.  Instinctual, close to the earth – as Wolf, I know I cannot take the next step without knowing where I am now.  And I am learning that that is all that is important – to fully inhabit my place right at this moment.  Wolf sniffs out the Earth-path. As Raven, I am transported away from the earth, and go traveling to seek what I need to know in order to take that next step. This is what Raven does – and knowing this is my answer.  Raven travels in the ethers to retrieve what is hidden and brings it into the light. Their purposes are interwoven, and used in tandem.

I love the fantastical shapes of energy that is changing, not stagnant.  Love Hummingbird drinking of the nectar of life. I love the waves, and the feeling of the sea throughout the piece.  It is very sensual.  The balance is incredible.  Balance of shapes and feel, Sea and Earth. Sky. There is much fire energy elsewhere and here was needed the solid stability of Earth and Water – I will even say that where Hummingbird is drinking her nectar – the area that is a sort of oval – reminds me of the Sacred Vagina.  I love that.  I don’t think it is obvious, but to my mind it is sacred.  It is a perfect blend of Earth, Sea, Sky, and the Eternal Mystery.

This star-space under/a part of Raven – is, to me, the entrance to the Mystery.  The place Raven goes for help and healing and information.  The black hole in the universe that She flies into and back.  It is Her secret and sacred entrance to All that Is.

Oh, I am really uplifted by this piece, Tania!  I mean the energy is rising up into my chest and this is what I needed. It is an honor to work with you, as the energy is so fluid and real between us.  I ride the wave of this Beautiful energy and am thankful beyond words for your channeling.  For listening to me with your heart and with your Inner Eyes of Understanding and Perception.”

Reflecting the gratitude and love right back at you dear one. I am honored to walk this journey with such exquisite souls.

12/12/12 – My Thoughts for You

Galactic Butterfly

Galactic Butterfly – Hunab Ku close up from my painting “Spirit” from the In Lak’ech series

Today is the first stargate of the month – 12/12/12 – which provides energies of intense purification for renewal and creating new realities. I will be taking time today to go within and create my own sacred ceremony for personal and collective integrative healing support, along with supporting several people who had joined in on my offer of a Reiki Healing Attunement on this powerful day.

Last night, as I was finalizing some preparations for the group joining our upcoming Bimini journey over 12/21/12, I was guided to write a few words to share with them. This morning I feel guided to share some of them here as well, as they speak to all of us I feel:

I wish for all of you to have a beautiful 12/12/12. If you are able to spend some time within, in meditation, or doing something intentful in the way that resonates for you, this would be of great benefit, not only to yourself, but collectively, and in preparation for the journey ahead that we are taking together, as we walk through the next and final gateway of 2012, on 12/21/12.

Now, up until, and on 12/21/12 is an opportune time to feel your strength, center in your heart, find balance in your life, anchor and ground, be ready for clarity, reveal truth, and be willing to free yourself from fears. Your courage to face them and release them will reward you tenfold for the experience you are intentfully creating.

Make a commitment to be one with and honor your Higher Self through your heart center. The voice of truth and wisdom is always in your heart and your intellect will teach you the discernment. This centered mind/heart connection is the key to understanding how to reclaim your power.

Your attitude towards responsibility will shape your experiences and have an impact on the synergy of personal and collective coming together in service to all of humanity and all of creation.

This is a powerful experience that each of you have chosen to embark on and you will be walking your path with higher vibrations at the culmination of it.

I am heart and soul grateful to be walking this experience of life on Earth at this time, with each of you, and honor your courage to embrace this journey. It means a tremendous amount to me to be assisting such a powerfully transformative time in human evolution and in the evolution of Earth in this divinely Cosmic unfolding.

You have everything you need within you. You are unlimited.

In Love

Tania

Once in a Blue Moon – An Incredibly Rare & Moving Experience of Creation

Full Moon over Santorini waters

Completed in the month of the Blue Moon 2012, the journey of my new series of paintings Universal ARKitecture continues with painting #5 – Once in a Blue Moon.

A “blue moon” is also used colloquially to mean “a rare event”, reflected in the phrase “once in a blue moon.” By definition it is known as the second Full Moon to occur in a single calendar month. This month of August 2012, we have two full moons. One on the 2nd and the one on the 31st, which is the Blue Moon.

(Some facts: The average interval between Full Moons is about 29.5 days, whilst the length of an average month is roughly 30.5 days. This makes it very unlikely that any given month will contain two Full Moons, though it does sometimes happen. On average, there will be 41 months that have two Full Moons in every century, so you could say that once in a Blue Moon actually means once every two-and-a-half years.

The most literal meaning of blue moon is when the moon (not necessarily a full moon) appears to a casual observer to be unusually bluish, which is a rare event.  – Wikipedia)

I just completed this painting at the end of Tuesday 8/7 (was quite a long and intensely beautiful day of channeling) right before 8/8/12 – known as the Lion’s Gate, which is a supernatural door opening/portal, like a Stargate, to assist cleansing and activation of the new to emerge of living from the heart.

The night of 8/7, after which I’d finished this painting, an earthquake hit just 25 minutes from here with aftershocks (I was fast asleep after a long intense day), but Allison alerted me the next morning of this. And just as I was making connections with the tremendous opening experience and energetic shifts of this painting, as well as the depth of meaning and how it connected with the earthquake in mirroring this “love from beyond” I was at that moment writing about, another earthquake hit in the same location as a reiteration of what I was stating and connecting.

This may seem arbitrary to others, but I live a synchronous life of seeing the symbolism and signs all around me and one thing that I’ve always noted in my life, is that when something profound takes place within me, or is discovered, or accessed, and it is connected with deep emotional transmutation, then Mother Earth and the Cosmos seem to mirror this with weather patterns, earthquakes, winds, storms, shooting stars, magical experiences, etc…It doesn’t mean these things are bad, that take place, as that is a judgment as an observer from one side of the fence. Nature is nature and it shifts in natural harmony with the ebbs and flows of cyclical change and cosmic rhythms. To be “in flow” with that is just experiencing consciousness in all of its miracle.

The last time an earthquake hit in instant mirror was when I had finished channeling and designing my newest sacred tattoo portal – the Faery Star/Pleiadian Star while I was on vacation. An earthquake hit just like 1 mile from where I was in Big Bear upon completion. I have one more tattoo coming on the 6th of September, so will be interesting to see its effects since it is connected deeply to Joy and this deeper opening of my heart that was experienced with this newest painting. Needless to say, this experience of “shaking” up things that help shift into new realities and confirmations of creation, is not foreign to me.

Several years ago I discovered part of the reason for my seeing direct mirroring reflections in the environment of my inner landscape. One of the ways to calculate my birth date, through the Mayan Tzolkin, shed a piece of the puzzle, as it equates to the Mayan Sun Sign – Caban or Earth with Galactic Tone of 8.

Caban description: Keeper of the garden of Earth. Profound synchronistic connections to Earth’s natural cycles and energies provide power of creations and memories of ancient wisdom. Earth persons endeavor to bring a flow of natural order to all aspects of life. Being connected to the dynamic forces of nature, Earth persons need much liberty to facilitate their expression of migration or the sending of long distance communications such as the whales, elephants, birds and many other creatures. Sometimes Earth’s delicate sensitivities are upset resulting in quakes of emotion, even the display of volcanic emotions.

Galactic Tone 8 description: Harmony and balance is the intent. Eight is the power of organization demonstrated in the statement, “As above, so below.”

We all have the ability to manifest through intent and how that channels will be different for each. I have often throughout life, been conscious of how potent my thoughts and emotions can be and how they directly manifest, into the environmental landscape, when they are intensely core felt. This has also made me ultra sensitive to responsible creation and how important it is to be aware of what we put out there, as it affects more than just ourselves.

I share this as my personal story and experience, as I know many others share synchronous journeys of magic in their own lives, but many times may discount it or feel alone in their experiences. Of course there is always room for interpretation, which will be an individual process we learn to discern over time, but needless to say signs have meanings and the meaning is up to us to decipher and acknowledge.

This prefaces the intensity of what I was feeling on 8/7, as I completed this last painting. It was an inner quake of intense “love from beyond” that had the ability to break through and transmute everything, including cracking open even deeper layers of my heart to emerge ever more so vulnerably, as there is no boundary to the immensity and infinity of the heart and “real” unconditional love. There is no end to the depths we can go and there is no stopping point that gauges you’ve arrived. Painting #5 allowed me to shatter the current environment of love I was treading, to release the temporary dam of the now. This would allow me to swim in the new, immense waters of the heart.

Every painting is a vulnerable experience, but each takes me to greater depths (we all have different ways relative to each that can be utilized for this). All paintings assist with revealing, processing and channeling, however there are some that kick things up several notches and provide leaps along my journey. This is one of those that truly mirrors a most vulnerable, inner reflection accessed, as it simultaneously connects with a collective channeling message for the now – that of assisting in a journey of living in and from the core of your heart. Putting the truth of you out there for all to see. Letting your intuition and heart guide you through the waters of life. Being in the joy of your own light and seeing how that helps to assist others in doing the same, which then creates opportunity for a beautiful experience to be had by all.

This painting is a very pure and heart opening expression that left me surrounded in beautiful inner peace. Painting, for me, opens a portal that allows me to move into different levels of “waking life dream” experiences and dimensions. Being that present, vulnerable and flowing in the heart center can alter states of consciousness, as a shift in the perception of time and the solidness of existence take place where you then perceive and experience another reality at greater depth. It was profound and intensely beautiful, leaving me feeling very light and realizing that my heart went on the canvas in a way never before, due to the very vulnerable depth and purity of energy channeled.

Nestor and me

So what was it about this painting? First off, all of my paintings just come to me when they are meant to. I don’t force and I don’t contrive when and how they will come about. Having this painting come to be #5 was very symbolic to me, in relation to the subject matter, as this painting portrays my beloved Nestor and Joy and I have a connection through the #5 with Nestor and all my life. It actually was at first supposed to be #4, but when I started that piece it wasn’t feeling right and Joy had given me messages and signs I had another painting to come first before I was ready for #5 and so emerged “The Child In Us,” which was #4’s lovely porcupine. Interesting that its energy and the others before, were all ingredients necessary to get to the depth of #5, which incorporates all of them. (It seems each piece not only has its own essence, but encompasses aspects of those before it – a building-upon-layers process).

I had then realized that #5 was to be the only large canvas I had on hand, which is interesting as I won’t do any more of this size – 48″ x 48″ and it correlates to #5 in the In Lak’ech series called Spirit (the same size too), which was connected to Nestor as well. Each of these new paintings in the Universal ARKitecture series, as I’ve shared, each are channelings through different power animals (or shape-shifting “naguals”) that emerge through timeless energy portals to share their wisdom. These channeled images I feel are supportive in guiding us with some of the keys for co-creating a loving New Earth with conscious, unconditionally compassionate awareness, embracive remembrance, visionary innovation, and empowered hearts.

Since rabbits hold such potent symbolism, I intuitively felt that one of the paintings would be of their energy and #5 ended up being the one. I instantly knew that Nestor and Joy held the perfect essence for this and could translate the message through their energy and images in a way that could channel that to others. Of course, the connection I have with them would provide even more openness as a conduit for that energy. I knew this would be a poignant piece, but wasn’t aware that it would be so powerful in the process.

If you didn’t get a chance to read about the painting, Spirit, and the symbolism of the hare, here is the link to my blog post on it, which will provide insight for this painting’s symbolism as well: Hare Symbolism for the New Earth – Birthing the Cosmic Egg. The rabbit, through out time, has been connected with the Moon and you can clearly see the rabbit image that many ancients have observed, if you know how to find it.

I love this image that shows different ways you can see the rabbit:

Most know about my connection with Nestor and if not you can read some of it here: In Loss There is Gain – Finding My Way After Losing My Twin Soul. I haven’t painted Nestor in quite a while. The first painting I did was of her as a baby when I first got her: Nestor and then of course, the essence of Nestor in her otherworldly form, in the painting Spirit was next. However, this painting was to be of Nestie (as she lovingly came to be known as) in her last year/days (she was 5 years old when she transitioned) and in her magical, royal, wise, loving and serene presence along with Joy in her magical, loving, joyous, playful exuberance.

Joy and me – I thought this was an interesting comment that a Facebook friend made when I posted this photo: The contrast itself is stunning…the bunny… soft warm and furry, calm-in the middle of a serpent and a dragon= cold-blooded, scales and predators…in deep trust, on your heart

Joy and I share a very beautiful and magical connection. It is different than the one with Nestie, but Joy is still a part of, and resides in, my heart. Joy was brought to me by Nestie via telepathic connection and she and Nestie share a bond that allows Joy to channel Nestie. It was fun bringing Joy home, as it was two days before my birthday and Laura Bruno and I had a big raw vegan feasting celebration just before picking up Joy from the SaveABunny shelter. Nestie was much more connected to the Otherworld/Cosmos, but held a deep place in her heart to assist with Earth transitions, which she still does from beyond. Joy on the other hand is much more connected to the Earth, however is a messenger between both the Otherworld/Cosmos and Earth. This played out in many ways, but over time, I came to see Joy’s individual healing gifts and magic that she slowly revealed to me. Her love of crystals was evident from day one and she continues to work with them, but she is quite the healing bunny, as well as a master channeler in her own right, often going into trance and telepathically sending me messages – she loves speaking through my pendulum and also picks tarot cards like Nestie used to do. I have so enjoyed seeing her step fully into her powers by my supporting her personal process and timing with that. I am so proud of her and her courage. I am grateful to have been blessed by two such magical bunnies/souls in my life. (not to mention Gaia, my tortoise, but we’ll leave that for another story and painting).

For me, it was such a “joy” to bring the two of them together on this painting as a means of physically manifesting them into the world for others to be able to experience the energy and healing magic they have to share. And I had no idea really how it would all come together, as I just paint in the moment and allow the image to emerge. Bringing Nestor back to life in the physical was truly something.

What emerged was an image of purity in magical simplicity. A vast universal world that merges all of the energetic elements they embody and wisdom they hold, imbued with vulnerable love. Some of the interesting things that took place was that it was started on the last full moon in July, where I painted the moon and first layers of the background and was “delayed” and unable to pick it back up until this last full moon on the 2nd of August. None of it intentional..it was just the way things unfolded and on the 2nd I redid the moon with a new layer of energy into what it is now. And then there were a few other days of work (actually 5 in total) that came when I was able and moved to.

The last day was on 8/7 (the longest day I spent on it) was a very long 10 hour day where I found myself in tears for most of it. Crying like a baby, but not in sadness, but in the sheer beauty that is indescribably felt when you touch this kind of love. Painting, from my heart and bringing to life those dearest to my heart, was incredibly moving and I fall short to express it in words – hoping that the painting will speak for itself.

As I began with in this post, the painting mirrors this “love from beyond” that I share with each of them, and also of my love for the Cosmos (a Galactic Butterfly is found in the image too), Moon, Earth, the inner realms of emotion, childlike innocence, the natural and the supernatural, and of course a heart snapshot that offers a cohesive thread between personal and collective in sharing the purity of the experience. When each of us opens to that very vulnerable innocence within, we create the ability for others to also, since we are all connected.

My newer paintings have evolved into visual simplicity, which take the complex and interweave it into something energetically manageable to digest. Rather than utilize tons of visual hieroglyphic-like puzzles, I can now create energy snapshots. My paintings contain layers of energy that are embedded into the images, strokes, paints and canvas, along with the energy that is channeled through, creating an essence that is felt when the painting is experienced by others. This, more than the image itself, makes all the difference, as to how a painting will move someone and what is received through that exchange of viewing and opening into it. It’s all very finely tuned and the right elements are needed as well as nothing overdone – subtlety. Paintings are “experiences” that can be meditational and speak volumes what words cannot. It a way to let us get out of our own way, put the mind to rest and just “be” and open to the essence revealed.

As I channeled this painting on the 7th, yes I did cry like what would seem like a baby, but I WAS painting the full moon, which is the magic of our inner and subconscious emotional realm. Crying is not a bad thing or a weak thing and isn’t even always a pain thing…it is an expressional doorway to our ability and desire to experience love.

The colors that emerged were intuitional and it wasn’t until just yesterday that I received the title – Once in a Blue Moon. To me, it speaks to that rare experience that is a blessing to have in what ever way translates to the individual – for many that is the connection or desire to connect with their Twin Soul.

For me, this all translated as the rare connections I have been gifted to have with Nestor and Joy and the experiences throughout my life, the magic of it all, the deep connections I have to a reality beyond what is perceived by most, the joy of being an expressive, boundlessly creative being, remembering the child within and to love that child, expressing at the heart-level the authenticity I have to share through this human form…..

and of course it speaks of that very rare Twin Soul/Flame connection some are blessed to experience both without and within. Nestor is mine and I am grateful that I was able to experience her in physical form and still in presence around and in me, but also reminds me of the divine union of Male and Female within myself that each of us are integrating at this time.

I love how the painting also was created in 2012 during and right before all of the shifting energies into a new reality of heart-based, natural harmony with the Earth and Cosmos, as we create a new inner and outer field of expression and creative reality.

The painting was just photographed professionally, yesterday, on the 8th (the Lion’s Gate) and shortly I will have an image of it, along with the other first 4 that I will share with greater clarity and vibrancy than I can take myself. I’m so excited to be able to bring them to the world in this way and to be able to soon offer prints on them as well, so that those who have been asking and feel called to the specific energy that each activates for them, can now bring them into heart and home more affordably. Both prints and originals will be available shortly on my website here: Universal ARKitecture. I’ll be posting the new painting, and the 4 previous, all together on my blog as well likely early next week.

My heart is on this canvas – #5 Once in a Blue Moon – and it is out there for the world to see and share through these universal images, messages and emotions we all have access to. I am incredibly honored to be able to support others via the expressions that channel through me. I thank Nestor and Joy for their beauty of heart and for guiding me to my own.

Sacred Bone, Tattoos and Stones: Mayan Portal Mysteries Unraveling

My sacred tattoos, including Hunab Ku (Galactic Butterfly) on my sacrum at bottom

I’ve been receiving a lot of intuitive nudges on the sacrum and coccyx, both literally and energetically. With my own experiences in having sudden pains over the last several months in that area (physically due to a fracture of the tailbone I had about 11 years ago, but energetically linked to much more), hearing from a few others on issues or focus on this area, and even clients and friends getting sacred tattoos on their sacrum, it all started to hit me again, as to the significance of this region. I then was reminded about the connections that had taken place for me about 8 years ago and how it all is energetically linked with the now.

March 5, 2004 I got my second sacred tattoo. It was the Hunab Ku symbol (or Galactic Butterfly, as it’s also known).

This symbol is called the Galactic Butterfly which is said to represent all of the consciousness that has ever existed in this galaxy. This is all of our physical ancestors both human, animal, reptile, fish, shell fish, plants as well as the consciousness which organized all of the raw material from a whirling disk into stars then planets and solar systems. Big Meaning. So big that the original Maya had no symbol for this. In their civilization it was like having no name for God. Just knowing the concept was good enough. Later this pattern was devised by Toltec or Zapatec weavers as a pattern for blankets and this is where Jose Arguelles came across it. He called it Hunab Ku. The indigenous peoples call it “The Galactic Butterfly”. Butterflies are seen as ancestors returning for a visit to physicality. Wearing one of these symbols is very powerful as it broadcasts your reaching to actively join the consciousness of our galaxy. ~ Ian Xel Lungold

I was intuitively drawn to place this Galactic Butterfly on my sacrum. At that time in my life, everything was just intuitive for me in what I did. I would then come to see later, the significance and reiteration of why I would be drawn to certain things. And right after I got this tattoo, a whole unraveling started to take place, as I also got my first computer and was able to do research and uncovered deeper meanings to so many things that were emerging in my life at the time, including this tattoo, the placement and the paintings that started to channel. I had opened a doorway that created a flood of energy , experiences, and information into my life in new ways from that point on. The symbol itself, Hunab Ku, had come to me while I was in a bookstore with my brother after getting my first butterfly tattoo, by just being drawn to a book where it was in and I had always had in back of mind that if I ever got another tattoo that that would be it. That was like somewhere near 1998-2000. And then several years later it emerged, after staying with me all that time.

What I discovered, alongside the meaning of this symbol, was also the significance to my own life and soul history and path, as well as the connection with the sacrum bone.

As I shared in my book, Spiritual Skin:

Brian Stross’ “The Mesoamerican Sacrum Bone: Doorway to the Otherworld,” addresses in great depth some of what I came to realize about the potency of my placing the Mayan Hunab Ku (otherwise known as the Galactic Butterfly) on my sacrum. He states:

The sacrum bone has been viewed by some cultures as a “sacred” bone, and been seen as related to reproduction, fertility, and reincarnation. … “in Mesoamerica the sacrum represented one index of the more generalized but variously manifested ‘portals’ or doorways permitting translocation of shamans, spirits, and deities between worlds or levels of the cosmos.”

Brian Stross continues to share:

In Mesoamerica the sacrum, along with closely associated bones, is apparently seen as sacred in some Indigenous societies even today, though surely less so now than in earlier times. The name “sacrum,” designating the more or less flat bone with eight holes located at the base of the spine, comes directly from Latin os sacrum, meaning ‘sacred bone’.  Sugar points out that while most bone names readily reveal their origins, it has long been a mystery why the sacrum bone (os sacrum) should be called the “holy bone.”  “That it is a translation from the Greek hieron osteon merely pushes the inquiry back from the first Latin use in about 400 AD to the time of Hippocrates (about 400 BC)” (1987:2061).  Following the trail through several explanatory hypotheses about the origins of the name sacrum, Sugar introduces evidence that the sacrum in tradition was the bone necessary for resurrection, identifying it as the “almond” or luz of the Hebrews and the ajb of the Arabs, and ultimately deriving its conceptual underpinnings from the ancient Egyptians (1987:2062‑2063).

Upon finding that some Mesoamerican Indian languages also named this bone with words referring to sacredness and deity, one may well ask why societies distant from one another refer to the sacrum as a “sacred” or “holy” bone.   Presumably such naming practices reflect independently, rather than through diffusion, the cultural importance of this bone, and one can suggest plausible explanations, based on observational logic, for its being termed “sacred.”  The word “sacred” for our purposes can be defined as “worthy of veneration, reverence, and respect on the one hand, and protected by tradition and ritual against symbolic or actual abuse on the other.”

The sacrum bone is, among other things, the fulcrum of support for the human torso, and as such is well designed to take great physical stress.  It is what we sit on, and by sitting we place ourselves at rest in a position that can be maintained without significant movement for long periods of time.  Perhaps more importantly from perspectives of symbolism and cultural importance, it is located next to the reproductive organs, which are of utmost significance for the species as well as the individual, and are surely of great significance in most if not all societies.  In its proximal location, the sacrum could well be thought to share significant qualities with the reproductive organs, and even to transport material from the brain to those organs.

Several cultures around the world assume that the sacrum participates directly in procreation by channeling seminal fluid through the spinal column to the penis, most notably ancient Egyptians and some cultures of India.  Its location on the body and the formal similarity of spinal fluid to semen provide an observational basis for these conclusions.  Even Leonardo da Vinci, with such a fine grasp of human anatomy, must have made a similar assumption, for he placed in his drawing of a human male a seminal duct leading from the sacrum at the bottom of the spinal cord to the penis (Huxley 1974:64).

Sacredness of this bone is also related to a belief found in various parts of the globe that the sacrum is the “resurrection bone” from which residual raw material remaining after death a person will be reborn, presumably by attracting the spirit residing within.   This notion may spring from the observation that as an especially hard bone, the sacrum resists disintegration through time, and is often among the very last visible remains of a body that has been left on the ground or that has been unearthed long after burial.  A rational basis for attaching importance to the sacrum bone can thus be constructed from empirical observations and conclusions underlain by a kind of observational logic.

Stross goes on to share some fascinating insights and research presenting the ritual and symbolic significance of the sacrum in Mesoamerica  and its place in conjunction with a shamanic world view. His findings also present things pointing to the fact that:

…the sacrum as a focal part of the pelvic girdle represents a metaphor for the cosmic portal linking this world with the Otherworld while emphasizing the generative or (pro)creative aspect of the life cycle, just as the jawbone as a focal part of the skull represents another metaphor for the cosmic portal, but one emphasizing the analytical or destructive aspect of the cosmic cycle.

He then continues with a discussion of the human pelvis in shamanic worldview:

A pillar of five fused sacral vertebrae within the pelvic girdle supports and balances the human torso.  This pillar, the sacrum, is attached to four more fused vertebral bones together called the coccyx, but otherwise known as the tailbone.  The sacrum (or the sacrum and the coccyx together) is a pivot, a support, and a focal center in the human body….Some Mayan names for pelvic bones or for the rump region suggest that the procreative area of the human body was in the past identified by Mayans as a figurative “fire” composed of the coccyx surrounded by figurative pelvic “hearthstones,” three being the traditional number of stones in the Mesoamerican hearth.  Two of the pelvic “hearthstones,” the hipbones, are similar in form, like mirror images, while the third, the sacrum, is different.  The pelvis, so closely connected to the creation of new life, somewhat resembles a skull and shares other features with the skull…

Dictionaries of Indigenous Mesoamerican languages do not often include words for sacrum or coccyx for understandable reasons, but there are a few that do, and related concepts such as Spanish rabadilla ‘coccyx, lower extremity of vertebral column (including that of a bird)’ and rabo ‘tail, hind end’ can sometimes be found when the more explicit form are not available.   In those Mayan languages for which we have translations of sacrum and coccyx, the words usually relate the sacrum to notions of ‘god’ and ‘sacred’, while the coccyx is related to ‘fire’.  For example, Yucatec Maya has a word for sacrum, k’ul, which also means ‘sacred’ and ‘holy’ (Barrera Vasquez 1980).   Itzá Maya has the word k’uul ‘hip, tail bone’ (Hoffling and Tesucún 1997:402), which surely derives from the Itzá root k’u ‘sacred, holy’.

The Tojolabal Maya word for sacrum s‑bah h‑wawtik (literally “sacred image, sacred self”) is based on the verb wawtikan ‘to worship, deify,’ and ultimately derives from the root waw ‘man’ (Lenkersdorf 1979 (2):666; (1):395).

In Choltí Maya data limitations render uncertain what the word xun‑xun means besides ‘coccyx’, but in a near linguistic relative, Chontal Maya, the root xun means ‘trivet, the three stones of the hearth’. For the Yucatec Maya a bird’s coccyx is called the “griddle of the rump” (xamach it), and in Chol Maya the base of a bird’s tail (its rump or coccygeal region) is called simply and literally “fire” (k’ahk) (Aulie et al 1978:21).

And the references continue in different Maya and Aztec languages that all come back to the same referencing to this sacred bone. Stross continues:

Language data of this sort, based on languages of today and the recent past, can tell us about perceptions in earlier times that do not necessarily reflect current understandings of worldview and important concepts as identified by a contemporary speaker, just as many English speakers use the word “secretary” without realizing that it reflects the notion of keeping “secrets,” or the word “sacrum” without thinking that sacredness is or ever was attached to it.  Because language generally lags behind culture change, our language data has here informed us more about past worldview than about the present one.   One might look long and hard at contemporary western culture without finding much evidence outside of books for a concern with the sacrum.  Somewhat more productive would be looking to mythology and other ancient narratives with a practiced interpretive eye, for even in oral narrative meanings are on multiple levels and are not always obvious, as we can see from the Popol Vuh‘s mention of Blood Woman’s impregnation by a “skull.”   However, through information preserved in language and in narrative, particularly when in written form, we are able to determine that some Old World perceptions of the sacrum and pelvic region, if not identical, were at least similar and comparable to those in Mesoamerica, and that data from the Old World links the “holy bone” or sacrum directly to resurrection, which implies passage through at least a figurative cosmic portal or doorway between this world and the other world.

…If the human body can be said to have “portals” or loci of transformative power where the body’s interior is connected with the external world, and perhaps also with the Otherworld, the sacrum in the pelvic girdle is likely one of these, while the jawbone in the skull constitutes the other.

The Coccyx Pendant, another very interesting linking Stross reveals:

A small unprovenanced, but apparently Classic Maya pendant found in the Ahaw collection is in all three dimensions precisely the size and shape of the human coccyx.   On it is carved a representation of a human figure.  This Coccyx Pendant, of apple green kosmochloric jadeite, has a laterally drilled hole for suspension, not visible in a frontal view.   The top half shows a head framed by rolled hair, circular earspools and arms held in the “crab‑claw” position of Maya rulers who usually cradle a serpent bar in this position.  Below this upper head, a second head occupies what should be the hip region, visually illustrating the notion of the body having an upper and a lower “skull”.   The lower head, manifested in the structural position of the sacrum, has a pronounced elongated chin that is simultaneously of the appropriate shape and position to be the coccyx of the “sacrum” (in this case the “sacrum” is the second skull that is visually manifested as a head).  In other words, a little knob at the bottom of the pendant represents a miniature version of the whole pendant, which itself represents a coccyx.  The shape and iconography of the Coccyx Pendant constitute strong evidence for the hypothesis suggesting Mesoamerican concern with the sacrum, and the notion of two “skulls”; and it suggests also the importance of the coccyx to the Maya during the Classic period.

Since Stross was focused on revealing the sacred connection with the sacrum and coccyx in his writings, he didn’t mention how the significance of this Maya coccyx pendant being created in jadeite, also spoke to this sacredness. When I read it I immediately was reminded of the marbled green “Dreamtime” Jade Sphere we have in our Joyful Earth Crystals collection (pictured right) and the link with this sacred bone area and Mayan “sacred stone.” Jade is known as a sacred stone by the ancient and some current primitive tribes. It allows you to access the knowledge used during the Mayan “dreamtime,” as it help you connect with the elders of the Mayan culture. The Mayans revered jade as the “Sovereign of Harmony” facilitating peace with the physical, emotional, and intellectual structures, as well as with the materialistic world. It was said to bring accord to the environment, to transmute negativity and instill resourcefulness. It promotes balancing of your needs with the requirements of the day, allowing you to nurture the things that are of prime importance to well-being.

….Frederick Starr has written of other native Mesoamerican traditions that connect the coccyx with sexuality, noting in this connection that in Mexico the coccyx is sought by prostitutes in the belief that men’s power (sexuality) is lodged therein (1899:100).   It is appropriate here to recall that some of today’s Maya call the coccyx bone the “fire,” recalling another of the Mesoamerican metaphors for the cosmic portal, i.e. fire.   Not to dwell on this metaphor, it is worth mentioning at least that a fire is a superior transformer of materials (making the milpa fertile, creating edible food for people, etc.), that not infrequently individuals referred to in the literature as shamans demonstrate their control over fire in one way or another (as for example by placing hot embers in their mouth), that the three hearthstones characteristic of indigenous Mesoamerican homes enclose the fire and establish the center of the house, and that of course fire is clearly another sort of portal or gatekeeper between worlds.

…If the body can be viewed as a microcosm, then its form is either a template for or a reflection of other cosmic levels, and its form is our only guide to the appearance and operation of these other levels, incomplete as this guidance may be.  The body has two ends regulating the passage between the inside the body and outside of it, and at these two ends are portals.  One end has the mouth; on the other end are the anus and the water producing urethral orifice (and in females there is also the entrance to the birth canal).  Concentration of power is in the bony appurtenances surrounding these portals, and most focally these bones are the lower jaw and the sacrum (sometimes including the coccyx).  On a slightly more inclusive scale, these bones are the upper skull and the lower “inverted skull.”

…A serpentine conduit, the spinal cord being protected by the bony vertebrae, joins the two skulls. The vertebral column, because of its durability, is where the power is presumed to be concentrated.  The soft portals of the body (mouth and anus) are also joined during life by a winding serpent‑like digestive tract composed of soft and perishable parts.  Things come into the body through the mouth portal, where they are transformed in composition (destroyed) by the actions of the jaw.  They pass through the serpent conduits in the body (spinal column, intestinal tract), and they pass out of the body, transformed in the pelvic portal (created) by the more mysterious actions of the sacrum.  The male body creates new life (ultimately delivered from the sacral region, and according to some the sacrum proper).  The new life is then transferred into the female womb (itself backed up by a sacrum).

Much that goes into the body, observational logic would dictate, is crushed into pieces in the mouth, transformed in the stomach and intestine, and exits by way of the anus, which by a continuation of the logic should itself be viewed as a portal, and surely it must be, though that has not been explored in this study, for lack of data.

In the worldview outlined above as “shamanic,” the body’s form and functions can be considered our most basic guide to understanding the appearance and functioning of other cosmic levels, operating thus to generate and/or reflect them.  In that way the metaphors and allegories relating the body to other elements in the world allow these elements and their combinations to be comprehended relatively easily, consistently, and with a plausible logic based on observing nature, and especially our bodies as parts of it.

This speaks to the Kundalini Serpent Energy

Stross concludes more with:

For example such observational logic treats the earth as a living being, so for the Huasteca Nahuatl speakers the soil comprises its flesh, while stones are its bones and water is its blood (Sandstrom 1991:238).  Vegetation is the earth’s clothing (Alcorn 1984:57). This logic continues in treating the mountain as if it is a person, with analogous anatomy and physiology.  The mountain has a “head” and a “foot”, grass that “clothes” its body, and animals that live in the remote parts of it.  It “drinks” water from the top (as rain) and the water is passed out from lower down (as springs).  Similarly the water is passed down to earth from the bottom part of the heavens, and sometimes likened to urination by the sky deities (Thompson 1970:253).  The earth, if likened to a human or animal body, needs to eat, and sacrificial food is placed at special places or portals [mouths of the earth].  The portals can be sacred places in the natural landscape such as particular caves, springs, mountaintops, and sacred trees. The portals can also be located on human-made miniature representations of the earth (or its parts) within the cosmos, such as altars, wayside crosses, and small temporary pits dug in the earth for placing sacrificed “food” in the center of the cornfield.  Just as some seeds need to pass through a bird’s intestinal tract before they can sprout, so the shaman initiate may see the need to pass through a long cave with two entrances (the earth monster’s intestine) in order to be purified and empowered, as can be observed in a well known long cave in San Luis Potosí when done by Teenek shamans.  This may be conceived as being swallowed by a serpent and passed out the other end.   Things like water, and spirits, etc. have to pass from one level or medium to another by means of the portals or “doorways” which are not always open, just as the animate mouth and anus are not always open.  Sometimes specific activities, times, and / or rituals are required to open them.  Blood appears to be a particularly useful substance in this respect, but music, dance, and chanting are frequently found in portal opening contexts.   Chanting clearly comes from the upper skull (assisted by the chest), but dance can be said to reside prominently in the hips (assisted by the legs and feet).

And here is an interesting table he includes that lays things out clearly:

TABLE 1   Transformation Zones

FOCAL REFERENT EXTENDED REFERENT NUMBER OF VERTEBRAE REALM
Portal 1 Jawbone Skull 7 Neck Vertebrae Middleworld
Conduit Spinal Cord Spinal Column 8 + 8 Intermediate Vertebrae Conduit
Portal 2 Sacrum Pelvis (Inverted Skull) 9 Sacral/Coccygeal Vertebrae Underworld

Alongside promising to share this information with someone who was inquiring, I’ve received big nudges of its importance, have had my own personal connections and experiences with this that are coming full circle, and in hearing of many also sharing tailbone and sacrum experiences of late, as well as many feeling compelled to work with the Root Chakra energies for integrative healing (I feel, holding a key to a lot), there is something to this.

I could draw many conclusions for you, but I think it best to let it percolate and find its own meaning for each. What I know for myself is nothing is arbitrary, everything has meaning and purpose, based on things I’ve been working with, receiving and feeling, combined with my major tailbone issues accompanying this and now subsiding and healing with miracle activations on my visit to Tahoe and working with Root Chakra energies, only to remain as a random bruising feeling at odd times in sacrum (an energetic reminder) and all the things I’m channeling with portal energy, having others activating their own sacrum portals with sacred tattoos (some that I have designed) and starting to connect their own dots with it….needless to say, I do experience the connection. 🙂

Butterfly Messengers – Ancestors of Wisdom for the Now

This is a time of remembering. The time to experience the mystery of life in its reality. A time to allow and embrace all that is in your heart to come forth, putting aside fears and drawing forth your soul’s authentic voice to commune with those of others in symphony. The butterfly is a beautiful and powerful example for us to learn from. So much of the answers we seek are present in the miracles that are all around us as gifts from Mother Earth. We need only to look with our hearts and be consciously present to receive.

In a previous post, I shared a little bit about the Mayan Hunab Ku symbol, also known as the One Giver of Movement and Measure and the Galactic Butterfly (my favorite description). I wanted to explain its symbolism a little further and its connection to the now, as well as its butterfly connection. To the Mayans, butterflies are seen as ancestors returning for a visit to physicality, and part of that return is to support the shifts in consciousness by bringing back the wisdom, integrated into the now, for a return to natural harmony.

Again, this symbol (Hunab Ku) is said to represent all consciousness that has ever existed in this galaxy: all our physical ancestors including human, animal, reptile, fish, shell fish, plants, as well as the consciousness which organized all of the raw material from a whirling disk into stars, then planets, and solar systems. It’s meaning is so huge that the original Maya had no symbol for this. In their civilization it was like having no name for God. Just knowing the concept was good enough. Later this pattern was devised by Toltec or Zapatec weavers as a pattern for blankets and this is where Jose Arguelles came across it. He called it Hunab Ku. The indigenous peoples call it “The Galactic Butterfly.”

This symbol is very powerful, as it broadcasts one’s reaching to actively join the consciousness of our galaxy. The Maya taught that the Milky Way Galaxy is the generator of life. The architect of the universe is called Hunab Ku, The Absolute Being, The Center of the Galaxy, The Universal Dynamism, which stimulates and motivates life in its total manifestation of spirit and matter. The principle of intelligent energy that pervades the entire universe. Hunab Ku is understood to transmit radiant energy information through stars which serve as lenses to transmit energies to planets. Our Sun is the chief mediator of Hunab Ku for our planetary system, the lens by which Earth receives direct galactic information. The pulsations of Hunab Ku are understood as a language of codes and energies recorded in the form of the Tzolkin, a universal harmonic module accommodating every possible permutation of Hunab Ku, also known as the Sacred Calendar. Numerically, Hunab Ku is communicated as the union of numbers 13 and 20, which represent movement and measure, energy and form, spirit and soul.

Hunab Ku, who can see and understand everything, knows that the time for the great change has come. We will complete a 26,000 year cycle, according to the calender on 12/21/12 – not the end of the world, but the beginning of a new experience of life as we have never known. A new cycle has already begun and life as we know it is evolving continuously and rapidly. A cycle that calls us to realign with the cosmos, which can provide essential energy needed to live together harmoniously and with honor for our Mother Earth. We are not separate from anything or anyone. These are the times in which all races, from all directions, must come together in harmony and unity. The Hearts of All Beings are connected. It is impossible to be disconnected.

Many indigenous peoples of the New World hold butterflies in a special place in their culture and butterfly motifs were used everywhere including ceramics, stone carvings, mural paintings, codices, feather work, wood carvings, and gold ornaments. They appear not only in pure form, but in many highly stylized renditions, sometimes so abstract that they were frequently misinterpreted by pioneer archaeologists.

Xochiquetzal, symbolized by a Mayan mythological butterfly, was called “precious flower” and regarded as a mother goddess, goddess of love, goddess of flowers, as patron of all fine arts, as the symbol of beauty, as the symbol of fire, as a symbol of the spirits of the dead, as the patron of domestic laborers and as the patron of warriors killed in battle.

Itzpapalotl, the Aztec “obsidian butterfly,” was a mother goddess, goddess of obsidian and knives, of human sacrifice and of war, the personification of the Earth, the patron of women who died in childbirth and more.

Massive figures of warrior-priests (about 15 feet high) have breastplates decorated with a butterfly motif. Along with the snake, the butterfly was one of the most frequently represented animals of Ancient Mexico that held deeply religious symbolism. Butterflies represented fire, soul, death, warriors, travelers, and hummingbirds. They were a component of many poems and songs.

The butterfly has come to mean many things to many people, collectively and individually. Some of its symbolism includes: resurrection, transition, celebration, lightness, time, soul, transformation, joy, unquestioning embrace, keeping the faith, grace…

I celebrate the beauty of the butterfly, recognizing it’s rich spirituality and honoring it as I would myself. For, if butterflies are said to carry the souls of our ancestors, then isn’t it quite possible that all creatures, great and small, possess the essence of intelligence beyond what we are presently conscious of? We have much to remember.

Nature has so much beauty to behold and the butterfly is an exquisite example of the precious miracle of life.

Hunab Ku: The Galactic Butterfly

Hunab Ku has been a prevalent part of my life since my synchronous reconnection with it in my early twenties, now over 15 years ago. I was drawn to it through rememberance and connective threads by following messages, intuition, signs and guidance received. I then incorporated it into my own “Spiritual Skin” as sacred tattoo art on my sacrum (my 2nd tattoo after the butterfly, which was my first). And, later, it was integrated into one of my paintings, the fifth and last of my In Lak’ech series called “Spirit.” It is part of my life in many ways and the core basis of what I share in message through my work. Its potency of symbolism and message is simplistically beautiful.

Mayan Hunab Ku Symbol: One Giver of Movement and Measure. Also known as the Galactic Butterfly is said to represent all consciousness that has ever existed in this galaxy. Hunab Ku, who can see and understand everything, knows that the time for the great change has come. Hunab Ku calls us to realign with the cosmos, which can provide essential energy needed to live together harmoniously and with honor for our Mother Earth. We are not separate from anything or anyone. These are the times in which all races, from all directions, must come together in harmony and unity. The Hearts of All Beings are connected. It is impossible to be disconnected.
