Let Your Light Shine: You Can’t Be Original – You Can Be Authentic

tania marie author

The following blog post is not a new one, but a reshare of one I wrote 5 years ago that feels to be an important theme to impart once again. The next few months are increasingly going to be VERY full with everything manifesting right now to manage so I will try to share new things, but a lot of messages are key to recycle, as we journey along the spiral of life and need to keep revisiting things from a new perspective that will at some point (perhaps now) finally take hold for us and click into action! This one speaks to those of you facing fears or inertia to make those shifts and embrace your creative spark wanting through. It also speaks to my own processes I’ve continued to engage and currently am involved in, in writing my new book. I have found my authentic voice and regardless of what I’m writing not really fitting any particular genre out there, I’m writing it nonetheless and not comparing myself, not trying to be like any other writer, not trying to emulate what’s popular, nor am I worrying about what others may think of it, nor spending time wondering what will become of it. I’m doing just what Sarah (below) advises – listening to the creator within, while SUPER JOYOUSLY enjoying the process, and it’s leading me on MY right path. That’s all that matters. The journey, not the result. The BEING, not the TRYING.

Here is the post reshared here, as I couldn’t just reblog it:

As many visionaries in the fields of healing and creative arts are stepping up and into their unique roles they came to embody, challenges may present themselves to overcome. There are many factors that potentially may be blocking, limiting, frustrating, or discouraging you, but they all stem from the illusions of fear and in some cases can be hard to see for yourself, as you know just how to ingeniously hide and disguise them with self-sabotaging finesse. Sometimes the seeming challenges can also be linked with collective, divine timing and therefore patience, flow, and taking aligned, synchronized steps may be needed and remind yourself to enjoy and be present in the moment, rather than live in the future or past.

One of the recurring themes of fear I see is that of self-doubt, feelings of unworthiness, or self-devaluation. There is a tendency to disregard the unique gifts you have as being valuable and instead to compare or compete with others, rather than simply embracing and honoring what only you can share with the world. Energy gets diverted and drained in trying to emulate or live up to what you see “out there” rather than focusing and honing that energy into simply creating and channeling forth from “within.”

Some may feel that my approach of staying within my experience of art (as one example) and not immersing myself in other artists’ works, may seem counter-productive. Why would you not study, view, take technical classes, etc, for the thing you are doing as your work? Would you not want to refine it and have it be something more? My question to that is, who is judging the “more” and by what definition of refinement am I to be working towards? While I honor all artistic expression as valuable, my answer is, by creating from my heart in each moment and learning through the experience of doing, do I grow and evolve and create art that is uniquely from my expression alone and what I am meant to create, regardless of what standards the outside world has boxed art into.

This is not the way or process for everyone, but for me, it is how I stay authentic and true to what wants to channel through me. This is, in many ways, the way I operate in all areas of my life. I am not naive, but I do know that the innocence I retain in drawing from within, is my unlimited creative power.

To express what is most naturally authentic to you in your own way is what makes a difference. There are reasons we are each in an individual body, even though we are collectively connected. One of which is to naturally be who you are and to allow that to channel through your heart in the way that mirrors the gifts you chose to birth in with. Let your light shine.

This theme is perfectly and simply expressed by Sarah Ban Breathnach in her book, Simple Abundance: A Day Book of Comfort and Joy. I hope you find some gems of supportive insight in what she shares:

You Can’t Be Original – You Can Be Authentic

One of the reasons many of us have trouble getting our Work out into the world is that unconsciously we’re competing instead of creating, which always short-circuits the flow of inspiration. A friend of mine is a gifted playwright. She denies herself the pleasure of seeing anything on the stage other than revivals of classics, preferably Greek. It’s too painful for her to watch contemporary work because she is addicted to comparisons.

Why do we make ourselves sick competing against strangers? I believe it’s just another sophisticated, seditious form of self-sabotage. If we don’t measure up, why even try? The fault line of comparison runs so deep in the lives of many of us it’s heartbreaking. I know women who quake at the thought of school bake sales because their brownies don’t sell as fast as those of another mother, and the psychic phobia over Halloween costumes is the last frontier in feminine psychology.

Five years ago when I published my first book, which updated Victorian family traditions, there were few popular books on the Victorian era available. But the late nineteenth century was just about to be rediscovered, and within two years there were so many books in the stores the market was completely saturated. Today it would be extremely difficult to find a commercial publisher for a Victorian book even if you channeled Queen Victoria as a spirit guide. This doesn’t mean if you are writing one that you should stop. The cycle of creation is cyclical. There’s a reason the past is prologue.

Sometimes you’re ahead of your time. Mozart was known to qualify his genius by declaring he was composing for future generations. There are literally millions of aspiring and working artists writing books, publishing poems, selling scripts, directing movies, auditioning for roles, designing clothes, entering juried craft exhibitions, starting home-based businesses, looking for an agent, praying for a lucky break. Don’t panic. It is impossible for you to be an original. But you can be authentic.

“God has lots of movie ideas, novel ideas, poems, songs, paintings, acting jobs,” Julia Cameron reassures us. “By listening to the creator within, we are led to our right path.” You aren’t the only one starting a mail-order catalog this year, but that doesn’t mean that you don’t know exactly what niche yours will fill perfectly. Why do you think you were offered the spiritual and creative opportunity?

Once you accept an artistic assignment from the Great Creator, it’s yours. Nobody can take it away from you, unless, of course, you relinquish it. Nobody can duplicate your work because there’s no one in the world like you. They can imitate, but they can’t duplicate. Your work is born of your sensibilities, temperament, experience, emotion, passion, perseverance, attention to detail, idiosyncrasies, and eccentricities.

When you’re authentic, so is your art.

Every day we slaughter our finest impulses.  That is why we get a heart-ache when we read those lines written by the hand of a master and recognize them as our own, as the tender shoots which we stifled because we lacked the faith to believe in our own powers, our own criterion of truth and beauty.  Every man, when he gets quiet, when he becomes desperately honest with himself, is capable of uttering profound truths.  We all derive from the same source.  There is no mystery about the origin of things.  We are all part of creation, all kings, all poets, all musicians; we have only to open up, to discover what is already there.  ~Henry Miller

Mirror Reflections: Integrating Spirit and Form

Photo of my new hair cut taken as a mirror reflection

Having recently been going through another major transformation (with a physically manifested, dramatic hair cut among other things) that continues to unfold, I see this theme of renewal, integrative empowerment, inner reflection to reveal authenticity, and trust in what is revealed to manifest outwardly, to be recurring around me – whether conscious or not – embraced or not. People are going through major shifts that are like none they have gone through before. Everything is getting kicked up several notches and when we are able to recognize the beauty of it and flow with the change, rather than fight it, ignore it, or do everything else but honor it, then the magick happens.

We all have different ways to go about things, different things we each have to learn, and different timing, so no one person can tell another how they “should” do something. The most important thing is to do it for yourself – whatever that soul accomplishment is that you are here fulfilling.

If we see someone going through struggles, pain, or even what we may “deem” unnecessary experiences or unproductive, that is simply an observational judgement coming from not being able to see the bigger picture of free will and how each person has and will decide their own ways to learn and evolve. It can be challenging to detach and not want to step in to help in the way we think can help, but the truth of it is, we can only offer to hold an unconditionally loving space and provide energetic support.

It is up to each individual what they choose in each moment and with each choice we have the ability to obtain a higher vibrational frequency, which equates to the measurement of the soul – not to our definitions of time and when and how someone must accomplish something.

We all make judgments daily when we see, hear or experience things and part of our collective journey is moving towards releasing these, as we embrace the holistic concept of Oneness and mastery of our creative and loving potentials.

The more we focus on our own processes and how the authenticity of that collectively connects, simultaneously, the more we start to harness the mastering of creating new realities we desire, without exerting unnecessary energies elsewhere.

I am seeing how every day more and more magick keeps unfolding, the more I go to the depths within to access and embody my truth. This weekend, just after getting my hair cut, I had a very intense experience of that renewing energy, and on that journey I was led to discover a falcon feather. I now have this powerful animal totem symbolism and spirit guide energy/wisdom on my desk with me and am grateful for its gift.

Falcon Wisdom Includes:

  • Assisting in soul healing
  • Accompanying the soul back to the soul world
  • Teaching swiftness
  • Learning the aerobatics of life
  • Controlling speed and movement
  • Understanding magick

Also: Spirit, Light, Power, Focus, Prophecy, Freedom, Aspiration, Intensity, Determination, Visionary Power Leading to Life Purpose, Solar Energy, Rising Above a Situation, Carries Message of Transition and Change, Taking Action on Something You’re Passionate About

Very synchronous for my current experiences and energetic symbolism 🙂

All of these themes that I see/feel around led me today to pick up my book by Shakti Gawain (which I like to do now and then) and open to a page to see if there is a message to impart. And what I opened to, energetically aligned with what I was wanting to share and so I’d like to leave you with passages from her insightful book, “Living in the Light ~ A Guide to Personal and Planetary Transformation” to ponder:

“The trickiest part of using the mirror process is learning how to interpret the reflection you see…It will not help to analyze and think about it with your rational mind. It is far more effective to turn to your inner self, to ask the universe for help…As you tune into your gut feeling and get a sense of what feels right in the moment, act on this feeling.

After acting on the feeling, try to be aware of the external and internal feedback from your actions. The external feedback is how well things work. Do things seem to fall into place and work easily? Then you’re surely in tune with your inner guidance. If you’re struggling to do something that doesn’t happen easily, it’s a message to let go and check back in to find out what you really want to be doing.

Internal feedback will come to you as feelings. If you feel empowered, more alive, then it’s right. The ultimate key is aliveness. The more the universe moves through you, the more alive you feel. Conversely, every time you don’t follow your inner guidance you feel a loss of energy, loss of power, a sense of spiritual deadness.

In being true to yourself you will feel more alive, but you may also feel uncomfortable. This is because you are risking change! As you undergo certain changes you may experience intense emotions. Allow these emotions expression; after all, your inner voice has to move through years of accumulated unconsciousness, doubt, and fear. So simply let these feelings come up and flush through you – they are being cleaned out and healed by the light.

External feedback may also mirror these feelings; your doubts and fears will often be reflected in the reactions of those around you. If your friends and family question or judge the changes in you, recognize that they are simply mirroring doubting, fearful voices in you, such as, “What if I’m doing the wrong thing? Can I really trust this process?”

…The important thing is to recognize that you are really dealing with your inner fears. Affirm that you are learning to trust yourself more and more. You will be amazed to see how others immediately mirror your increasing self-trust and confidence by responding to you with trust and confidence.

Remember:

If you judge and criticize yourself, others will judge and criticize you.

If you hurt yourself, others will hurt you.

If you lie to yourself, others will lie to you.

If you are irresponsible to yourself, others will be irresponsible in relation to you.

If you blame yourself, others will blame you.

If you do violence to yourself emotionally, others will do violence to you emotionally, or even physically.

If you don’t listen to your feelings, no one will listen to your feelings/

If you love yourself, others will love you.

If you respect yourself, others will respect you.

If you trust yourself, others will trust you.

If you are honest with yourself, others will be honest with you.

If you are gentle and compassionate with yourself, others will treat you with compassion.

If you appreciate yourself, others will appreciate you.

If you honor yourself, others will honor you.

If you enjoy yourself, others will enjoy you.

It’s very important to realize that you may not be able to change your old patterns overnight…It takes time for ego to change its habits, so you have to watch the same lousy movie repeat itself a few times.

…Change happens not by trying to make yourself change, but by becoming conscious of what’s not working. You can then ask your higher self for help in releasing the old and bringing in the new pattern. Remember, the darkest hour is just before the dawn – change often occurs just when you’ve given up, or when you least expect it.

…We, as spiritual beings, created the physical world as a place to learn. It’s our school, our playground, our artist’s studio. I believe that we’re here to master the process of creation – to learn how to consciously channel the creative energy of spirit into physical form…

After we are born into the body, we forget who we really are and why we came here. We take on the “survival” consciousness of the physical world and we get lost in the world of form. We forget our spirits, believing we are just our personalities. We lose touch with our true power and feel lost and helpless. Life becomes a tremendous struggle to find meaning and satisfaction.

…Eventually we realize that it’s not working: no matter what we do in the world, we don’t find happiness…This is usually a painful and frightening place in a person’s life – it feels like hitting bottom. It is a time of ego death, when the body mind form recognizes the hopelessness of trying to live this way and surrenders its fight…

But the darkest hour is truly just before the dawn. When we finally give up the struggle to find fulfillment “out there,” we have nowhere to go but within. It is at this moment of total surrender that the light begins to dawn. We expect to hit bottom, but instead we fall through a trap door into a bright new world. We’ve rediscovered the world of our spirit.

This is like being reborn. We are infants in this new world and have no idea how to live since none of our old ways work here. We feel uncertain and out of control because our ego is not in control anymore. Yet hope is reborn with us, and power and vision start to come through. From this point we become gradually more “enlightened.”

…So here we have the dilemma in which we all currently find ourselves – a great discrepancy between our spirit and our form. The spirit is very powerful and creative and has a lot of things it would like to do to express itself in the physical world, but it needs to have the form as a vehicle in which to do it. The form is willing but isn’t yet able to go where the spirit wants to go. It has to be educated and transformed through the power and wisdom of the spirit.

…In order to create the new world, we are being challenged to move back into the world of form with full spiritual awareness. We need to recognize the discrepancy between our spirit and our form and then allow the spirit to transform the physical body, the mind, and the personality into a powerful and beautiful channel through which it can fully express itself.”

Thank you Shakti Gawain for sharing your timeless insights.

The View from the Window – Many Windows, Same Train

Each moment of each day is in constant transition and where it used to be odd to others to experience and watch some of us constantly shifting, it is now becoming common ground for most. Even for me, who is a constant chameleon of metamorphosis, this rapid change has increased my own transitional processes. I used to be able to foresee more, but now I am much more short-sighted and moment focused than I have been. I still get overall energy and essence feelings on things, as well as can sense general directions energy is going, but I have no urge to see past today and am asking of myself only to embrace what is before me now – looking within at all the pieces and choosing consciously what is most optimal to my desired creation of experience.

It’s a very interesting time and everyone is experiencing amping up and intensities in their own ways, which includes ups and downs relative to each, while transitioning takes place. I know for myself, this is very true and I tend to exhibit the shifts and each step of the process a bit more dramatically and symbolically than most, as that is just my way. I’m used to my processes and so I don’t get alarmed or surprised by the transitions, even when I hit my own uncomfortable, more challenging, some times painful and “off” days.

I find it hard to share the things I experience, as each person’s experience is as I shared, relative to them and them only. We may share similarities, but no one can walk in our shoes and live in our skin, but us. Needless to say, we are all experiencing change and it’s just part of life. The way we embrace change, is what makes the difference. And opening our hearts and our perspectives can lead us to the magic in all of it.

There is nothing wrong with the ups and downs, as life is a full spectrum experience. That is what we are here in human form to have – an “experience.” All the levels of emotions are part of that experience and enable us to go to greater depths of our hearts and to really embrace the sensuality of humanity that is what we choose in being here.

I don’t attempt to try to explain myself or to make someone understand me. That was something I have gone through in my past processes of first learning to become an individual, after realizing who I was conditionally expressing, wasn’t a mirror of the real me. This is a process we all go through and then we come to feel at home within (regardless of what is going on without) and understand that we no longer need to rebel against something and that those “somethings” were actually gifts in reminding us who we really are and to assist us in understanding ourselves, learning to love unconditionally and compassionately, and simply are mirrors of the divine oneness that creates the experience of life here in duality.

But now is a time we can move into integration, where we see all sides and can understand from a new, uncharged perspective, how it all is just pieces of the puzzle of consciousness expressing itself, to experience and learn of itself. Only through our hearts and “real” love can we do this. Love DOES heal all.

Every day I am in constant inner reflection, as I have innately always had the drive to look deeper and discover the magic of life – and to find “my” truth. What that is for me, is and will be different than what that is for others. It is not necessary that we all share the same vision and experience.

Yet, it’s funny how once we arrive at certain experiences, understandings and epiphany breakthroughs that change our personal lives in what feels to be profoundly joyous ways, we feel this “need” to have everyone on board the same train.

The reality is, we can be on similar wavelength trains, but definitely there is no room for all of us to sit in the same seat, right? And how stifling to the unlimited creative miracle that free will provides opportunity for. There are many seats with their own windows on the train and from each, many perspectives and beauty to behold, as the train passes along its collective trajectory.

We can create the experience we want by focusing on what it is we each want to create, consistently living and being that which we desire, staying present and unconditionally loving, opening our inner heart eyes, releasing everything we ever thought we knew, and releasing attachment to others joining or even to what exactly that “has” to look like and when.

This can be challenging to do when bombarded by so many external factors swarming around us, beckoning our attention with temporal stimulation, knocking on our door to see if we will react or respond, tempting us with temporary comfort and numbness, feeding the aspects of our less than strong parts that perpetuate pattern cycles, or masking themselves as shiny new toys of the moment that “could” actually be ingenious self-sabotaging mechanisms that make us think we are moving towards what we desire, but actually are side steps to what we really want.

To top it off, we have the daily life experiences to attend to, different factors of our individual experiences that are teaching us about ourselves, conditioned and authentic elements we are weeding through and tons of energetic factors all simultaneously swirling in and around us – sometimes that can either feel like supportive gifts of opportunity to embrace or dramatic diversions out of our control, depending on our perspective in the moment.

In the end, does any of it really matter in terms of what, how and when we choose to do with what we have before us? Not really, as life is an experience and all of life is choice, and choice eventually leads us where, in the bigger picture, we need to be, where ever and whenever that may be and however that looks.

But if you find yourself complaining and unhappy and spiraling in the same exact experiences over and over that make you miserable, then perhaps there is another choice you could be making and side-stepping, which in fact would change your seat on the train and hence, the experience of the ride and the view you are seeing. It all really depends on what you want and how far you’re willing to go to make that your reality. There really isn’t any time trajectory, but your own and throughout life you can continually change seats on the train until perhaps one day you also realize you ARE the train, the conductor, and every seat and window view and then life becomes the journey.

The questions to ask yourself are: What do I want and what am I willing to do to have it?

I do this often and as I mentioned, it is why I do some dramatic shifts in my life on a more than “average” basis, to assist myself in the ways I know that work for me to help me to make the changes and create the experiences I choose to have.

The last steps sometimes can be the trickiest and for me that can mean extreme flips like the Hanged Man or looking like The Fool (in Tarot). It’s not that way for everyone, nor has to be. I only share my experience, from my seat.

I find that intuitively listening to my heart, following through in consistent action with what it tells me, being more open and detached than ever, while simultaneously more unconditional and heart open than ever, consciously doing my best to be present, authentic, and finding my own inner rhythm, balance and joy is what works best in these current energies of the now. And if I stray from any of that, that is when I find myself more challenged and “off track.”

Trains can change tracks, but there is no need for head-on collisions or mishaps when changing course. We can jump tracks and constantly maneuver from one to another smoothly and evenly in any condition presented, as long as our hearts are conducting the way. It’s a choice we make in each moment. And currently those choices don’t take long to manifest direct results – everything is instantaneous. I have seen this for myself and how there is no more luxury in terms of being able to make several of the same choices without receiving direct, instantaneous manifestation to reflect a message. It’s then STILL our choice of what we desire to do with it and what we want to create.

Life can be magic or misery. It’s a moment to moment choice and in the end, we may go through both and both may be present, as it’s all just part of the Oneness of consciousness and experience that just IS.

I am guided to write certain things at certain times based not only on what I pick up on collective energetic levels, but are also what I currently see as a theme in my own life and current transitions.

Just me…reflecting, shifting, preparing for the next phase of the journey and how that emanates from within

Right now is one of those dramatic shifts again and it has included changes and new things that are taking place, that I feel heart-guided to integrate into my life to assist my transitions in order to flow with and support the energy shifts collectively. For me it is about embodying a return to natural harmony inside and out. Some of those changes include transitioning back to 90-100% raw vegan, getting a couple of new energy tattoos to assist my next phase and to balance, bring depth, opening and closure, getting ready to make a dramatic hair style change to lighten, infuse my life with new energy and perspective, and emanate authenticity from within, going through a major closet revamping and clean-out/giveaway, detaching in big ways, while connecting with a bigger picture that I see in my heart, and flowing in each moment with the work that calls to me to do – remaining flexible and open to how it evolves…symbolic and literal changes are steps that can assist our creation intents.

A peak at my newest tattoo done yesterday on my left foot – a stylized Faery Star I designed – also known as Pleiadian Star – gateway to the Otherworld. It is still red and swollen so I shared it in black and white. Will be finalized with my next tattoo early September

The only truth is the truth that dwells within your heart and no one can tell you what that is, but you. Others can assist in helping to uncover it and reveal things that you hide from yourself, but nobody appreciates nor will change by anyone else telling them how and when to do that and what that should like.

When we try to observe another’s window view from our own, it is distorted. If we each unconditionally love each other, realizing we are sharing the same train ride and can do so in joy of all the different forms of beauty that can be seen from each window of the collective soul, then the journey will BE the harmonious miracle it IS.

Inspirations to Reflect Upon – Words of Wholeness

Life Renewed by Tania Marie

Today I thought I would share a compilation of several quotes chosen to match the energy I feel would be supportive for others at this time. Now and then I will do this, drawing upon a themed message to be supportive for you and us all. Since all information is recycled and we are either remembering it, reiterating it, or reminding ourselves of it, (nothing is truly new and from the collective pool, it’s only shared through different channels in energetically unique ways from each so that it gets out to many who need to hear it in that particular way in that particular moment) then it is good to hear from many sources, the repeated messages we are trying to support ourselves with over and over until it clicks and we “get it.”

Today’s inspirations to reflect upon are themed around authenticity, self-awareness, perfection and wholeness in the here and now, self worth, seeing the bigger picture synergy, shifting perspectives to see what you are missing, change….

May you find value in who you are, what you are capable of creating and this very moment of divinity.

“Awareness is our true self; it’s what we are. So we don’t have to try to develop awareness; we simply need to notice how we block awareness with our thoughts, our fantasies, our opinions, and our judgments. We’re either in awareness, which is our natural state, or we’re doing something else.” Joko Beck

“As you recognize that you already own the wholeness you seek, and no one outside you can give you more than you already are, dysfunctional situations will evaporate like bad dreams exposed to the morning sun.” Alan Cohen

“Enlightenment does not ask you to be perfect; it simply asks you to find perfection right where you stand.” Alan Cohen

“The only thing more important than being good is being real. Authenticity is kinder than resignation without conviction. Truth leads to good faster than good leads to truth. Ultimately truth is good, but you have to live it from the inside out.” Alan Cohen

“When your sense of worth exceeds your conditions, conditions will shift to match your vision.” Alan Cohen

“The greatest gift that you can give yourself is a little bit of your own attention.” Anthony J. D’ Angelo

“Healing and positive life change comes from having the courage and spiritual conviction to look squarely at life’s impermanence.” Meredith Young Sowers

“Awareness is given to the newborn, but must be sought by the adult.” Mentor, Agartha

“He who knows others is learned; he who knows himself is wise.” Lao Tzu

“People who do not need to please are irresistible because they radiate wholeness, a rare delicacy in a world of hungry hearts.” Alan Cohen

“The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn for the past, worry about the future, or anticipate troubles but to live in the present moment wisely and earnestly.” Buddha

“Learning is finding out what you already know. Doing is demonstrating that you know it. Teaching is reminding others that they know it just as well as you do. We are all learners, doers and teachers.” Richard Bach, Illusions

“What a doctor or healer tells you is a reflection of the beliefs and expectations you hold. Change your beliefs and you change the prognosis. Who is the doctor? The mind of the patient.” Alan Cohen
