With the Pisces Full Moon’s heightened intuitive energy today and people looking into the meaning of things more and more, along with inquiries about signs, messages, and symbolism I receive consistently, and a recent request for a source on interpreting symbolism, especially things like animal totems, I felt to share one of my favorite websites from Avia Venefica who shares insightful cultural and archetypal meanings of symbolism across the board. Her website is one of the most diverse sources (check out the menu of topics in the top, left hand corner) I think you’ll find helpful with learning to understand the deeper meaning of things and how to harness that for both personal and collective implementation and awareness.
Here is her site:
I also recommend tuning in and meditating on the symbolism in question, asking for its message directly and how it applies to you, as although there is universal symbolism, how and when something shows up for you can have its own meaning and interpretation, which can only truly be understood or accessed by you. And I truly believe that if you spend the time you will discover the meaning and make those connections to what is going on in your life that brings purpose to what has shown up.
Teaching yourself to engage your own inner wisdom and using things as aids and tools to access that, will help not only to empower yourself, but also strengthen your gifts and open up more doors within you that have been hidden, conditioned out of conscious reach, or repressed.
You can also simply go online and google key words to bring up associated links to what is in question and trust what shows up or what you’re drawn to, as there is always meaning to why that particular message has been brought to your attention. The same goes for a book you might see in a book store, or one you have that you pick up and open up to, finding the perfect message right before your eyes.
Also, stay very aware, present, and observant to things that happen, you hear, someone says, etc., at the time of the sign, just before, just after, and pay attention to recurring themes taking place in your life currently that are trying to get you to pay notice and either make changes, adjustments, are aiding inspiration, or simply are reiterating you’re on the right track and being supported.
Then be open and willing to accept the messages you receive, as if you have a pattern of denial this is the very reason the messages or reiterating signs keep showing up.
Much of interpretation is relative to you, and although things can be guides or someone else can tell you what they think, these are simply keys to help access those closed doors within YOU that has the answers and that you can then run with and discover whole new worlds of possibilities once you engage them with curiosity and trust.
Enjoy the journey!

Yesterday I received another very loud, clear, and blaring message from my sweet rabbit and soul companion, Joy, as you can see in this photo from our hike. As we were descending the mountain, our attention was drawn to the left and there in clear letters was her name deliberately written in the snow upon a rock. Incredible.
You may remember the sign from Cosmo after his transition and messages I’ve been getting from Joy since my dream of her about a week and a half or so ago where she was getting my attention to “hear” and “listen” to something coming, which could be tangible or telepathic.
Immediately following the dream, my bunny loves have been super active in showing up with messages, gifts, and their presences, but especially so, Joy has been with very tangibly seen messages and several times with her name appearing in huge letters.
Yesterday Joy’s message showed up right after I’d spent the last five minutes deeply immersed in thinking about my bunny loves and was getting teary eyed, feeling the tug at my heart strings.
Joy’s message felt fourfold.
- I felt that she was wanting me to know how much they were with me and to feel their love and “joy” in my heart to heal any sadness present.
- I felt that she was messaging me again to keep listening, being ultra observant, and to pay attention to the signs and messages she and the others would be sending me, as something is amping up right now and something big is coming. Also, to confirm for me to keep on point with my path I’m being inspired to follow right now, as it’s being supported and channeled by them to fuel my heart.
- I felt it (and the other “Joy” signs) was confirmation of what I’d come to see about Joy in her last year or so of having truly embraced and embodied her name, which when I first got her she had been concerned she couldn’t live up to and afraid of disappointing if she couldn’t be the essence of “Joy” always. She came to own that truth of her heart, as her innocence and vulnerability WAS pure Joy always.
- And a “joy” filled appreciation for what I’ll share below.
Needless to say, I was so touched by seeing her sign and have been so grateful for my bunny loves’ constant and recently very profound presence in more heightened ways than usual.
So much so, that I’m discovering myself embodying the bunny me more than ever and everything in my life is coming up bunnies, as I’ll touch a little bit on in another post.
Gaia has been there too, but she seems to make very timely, big entrances at less frequent intervals.
But for now, as we approach the end of this year and get ready to walk through a new gateway of experience, I felt so much that alongside all that I’m focused on I really wanted to anchor in some energy (it’s 3:33 pm here as I write this part) and honor the memory of my sweet ones in a way I know they would appreciate and likely have inspired.
Each year Dave and I give to organizations to help animals. Most of the time we do it around Christmas and the New Year, but sometimes it’s been at Easter (for bunnies), and sporadically donate to different events as well at any given time. For example, I’ve donated a bunch of my paintings, prints, time and services to help raise money for animals and volunteered at a rabbit shelter as well for a while.
This year it was immediately a stand-out for us where we wanted to lend our support.
Our Christmas gift went to two non-profit organizations that were connected with both Joy and Cosmo, in honor and in memory of them and all the love they had for the bunnies they left behind, and came to know over the course of their sheltered lives, when they came home with me, and to others like them that are in need and not as fortunate as they were.
Donations provide things like food, litter, supplies, toys, and help out with vet fees for neutering/spaying, health challenges, and needed surgeries.
Joy and Cosmo are “compassion ambassadors” for rabbits and spreading awareness and education to others about rabbits, and this was a way not only to do what is in my and Dave’s hearts’ “joy” to offer in way of support, but also to continue their work through me, since we are One.
No wonder I’m becoming a rabbit more and more with these power souls channeling through me.
It’s one way we can help bunnies in need, bridge the rabbit/human gap, do what’s most in our hearts, show our reverence for these two ever-giving souls, a way for me to keep them alive through me, and a way to spread a little “JOY” to others via the path and role I have in this life involving rabbits.
This year has been profoundly shifting for me, which has been in large part because of the work I’ve been doing with my rabbit companions and what has come through them.
These messages and gifts in the cycle of giving and receiving mutually, have truly been a theme pervading 2016 for me and I can’t think of a more perfect way to close it out and anchor in the new.
I didn’t have a chance to post these yesterday, but now that I have a few more photos to add I thought today would be perfect. These are some photos from Sunday before the Supermoon, during the heightened time of the Supermoon, and the day of, as well as morning after (today).
So many magickal things showed up like 6 ladybugs on the water at my favorite spot in Lake Tahoe where I put Joy’s and Nestor’s ashes, a peace and love sign we stumbled upon that were created in pine cones in the forest that lit up with dancing light and colors in the camera lens, but weren’t there in the dusk hour otherwise, amazing essence of the Moon I caught when I woke in the middle of the night and morning of its fullness, so many crystalline light energies and rays the day after that even a duck couple were calling our attention to, and more!
I’ll let you enjoy them without any further descriptions, so you may absorb the energies along with me.
Everything has meaning, at least that is how I choose to live my life. I see and receive symbolic meaning in all things in and around me, as well as create a consciously symbolic life of meaning and intentful purpose.
Whether small or big, I gratefully receive the beauty the Universe gifts me, enjoying the messages and connection the awareness of it all brings into my life. Sometimes that message is one of awareness to make compassionate and conscious change.
Yesterday I broke away for a couple of hours at the beach with a friend, and several new friends there, did I find.
It was a beautiful day with glistening sun on the ocean, as we walked and I looked for treasures from the sea, finding many.
What I also found were many little ladybugs at the water’s edge. I found this odd and pondered why, while in the process picked up two of them and placed them on my skin so that they could dry their wings in the sun light and my warmth.
These two little ones stayed with me, crawling and resting on my arm and my “Live Love” hoodie adorned with “Peace” sign for the entire walk, until their tiny wings were dry enough to set flight again.
The question still remains as to why ladybugs were at the ocean in the first place and after researching a bit, I found this was not an uncommon phenomena, yet still a mystery.
Some sources say that the ladybugs give birth during this time, and that some are blown to the coast when the Santa Ana winds whip through. And some debate how and why the ladybugs come to gather on the shorelines with two categories of reasoning: ladybugs floating to shore and ladybugs gathering at the shore from land. This would mean large numbers of synchronized ladybugs taking flight perhaps as a result of rapid growth in population in contrast to depletion of resources. In which case they may be setting off to forage or may be coming to shores to drink or gather there with reluctance to cross the water, after journey from land to the water’s edge in search.
And then some have thought ladybugs are blown or knocked into the water and then drift ashore caused by major winds or storms. It’s been shown that some ladybugs can float for over 150 hours with the estimated average time floating for washups to be about 33 hours.
So, were these ladybugs I found a product of environmental conditions or loss of resources? Or is there another mystery and message they are bringing to us? In either case, as with everything, there is something to be received by their coming to be found at the ocean’s edge. While I’d like to believe they love the ocean as much as I, I would tend to think that just like with the enormous amount of bees I’ve found on the water’s edge over the last year, that there is altogether another message in this and one to take to heart.
Since ladybugs are such beautiful symbols and good omens of things to come, would their message not be ironic in this context?
Lady bugs are a sign of good luck, of wishes coming true, love and protection. Lady bug wisdom according to my favorite shamanism site:
Carries the Golden Strand that leads to the Center of the Universe
Death and Rebirth
Happiness, Love, Luck, Friendship
Good Deeds Done
We are definitely in a process of rebirthing and reinventing, myself included. What do you take away from their message?
All I know is that I wanted to save them and nurture them when I saw them and loved to be a stand in tree of energy for these two to find their strength again.
