And here are ten photos from this weekend that I took of the Starfish Laura Bruno mentioned in her post I just reblogged: El Mundo Bueno
Starfish show up on special days and at special moments for me. Not everyone sees them, as I watch how people will walk by them without notice. Something always draws my eyes to them and then after spotting the first, it’s like a treasure map that keeps leading me to the next and next.
I take a lot of photos, but don’t always post them. However, since they were mentioned now twice recently, I thought you might enjoy the vibrant life and magick of these amazing Star Beings in full color!
I just fill with joy and love when we find each other. ❤
I love how they look like little people with head, arms, and legs in sweet and joyous poses. My favorite is this one above where you can actually see a little behind on the starfish, as he seems to dance with joy!! lol!! SO CUTE!
Some are more hidden (in the shadows) and others are living life out loud in all of their glory. Truly a mirror to let your light shine in the unique way that mirrors you.

Hope they bring you some joy and inspiration to your day!
The first Full Moon of the year is a Mini-Moon – Smallest Full Moon of 2014 and this is being experienced today. It’s also known as the Full Wolf Moon (each Full Moon has a Native American traditional name), as well as Old Moon or Moon After Yule. It is a Mini-Moon because it will appear 12.2% smaller than the largest Full Moon of the year and roughly 4% smaller than average.
Mini or not, the energy of this Cancer Full Moon is fertile and potent for illuminating our emotional and intuitive sensitivities that can assist us in flowing with the natural energy rhythms and realize the unlimited potentials we have the ability to actualize. We are asked to focus our concentration on ways to help sustain our extended actions we are taking with clarity for the bigger picture and long range perspective.
Dramatic shifts are in progress and along with other planetary aspects, you will need to remember the importance of keeping balance, nurturing your well being, and learning how to act directly and quickly with wider perception of all that is simultaneously happening.
This is also an important time to integrate your personality, shift old feeling patterns, and nurture aspects of your individuality/personal frequency to support the things that truly matter and are authentic to your newly integrated life.
Feel, feel, feel! And really be aware of everything that is you and not you through those feelings. You have them for a reason and they can assist you in understanding what emotions are yours, others’, and which are conditioned old patterns, or truly your natural essence. Balancing your energies is crucial and while the Moon and Cancer focuses on that “Mother” and feminine energy, do not forget the “Father” and masculine energy, as both are needed.
Capricorn Sun, at this time, makes sure to remind us of the male aspects, while we are nurturing the female aspects. Capricorn provides that discipline to help us understand our emotions and how to make productive use of them in realizing how we can be in the driver’s seat, rather than having them rule us from behind the scenes. Capricorn will be the stabilizing force to provide wise discernment, clarity, focus, and grounded balance with its Earthy foundation. In this way it is the rock that will be our anchor while we travel through the emotional healing waters, providing a reality check and helping us to create new structures with real security that come from a true sense of personal identification and self. In this way we can redefine and re-evaluate all aspects of our life, but most importantly the way in which we relate with others from the wholeness of our personal frequency.
Personally, this is a life teaching for me, as someone with North Node in Capricorn and South Node in Cancer, so I do understand both the trickiness of this, along with the value and benefits that come with commitment to the process. Having Pisces (another water sign like Cancer) as my Sun and Mars in Capricorn as my Ascendant in my First House, it’s definitely a pretty glaring energy that has meant all the difference in dedicating work on and something to keep mindful of.
But back to the energy of this Cancer Full Moon – The past, subconscious, and karmic things may crop up at this time, old childhood memories, family history, people from our past…this may bring hidden things to the surface, or ask you to courageously explore them yourself by going backwards momentarily to retrieve parts of you that you left behind. It’s time to put things to rest, understand, forgive, and lovingly release. Unproductive, unhealthy, and dysfunctional emotional patterns will no longer serve you, other than to keep you down. See them for the gifts they have been and realize you are not defined by them, or anyone else, any longer than you choose to be.
You could be feeling an emotional roller-coaster has swept through your life, and yet these very things that feel like challenges, have the ability to set you free from old wounds. Release of resentment and embracing of your power will be required as a way to absolve and to heal. Again, you are not defined by the past or by anyone else. All of the voices you’ve heard in your head over the years have been based on an acquired false identity you learned from other people’s values and ideas, which were not yours. The pain of this has likely been great, but the biggest loss was in losing self. It may not feel easy to let go of the harmful energy that has been around so long, as by now it likely has become a form of a comforting crutch. This may feel falsely safer than the unknown of being in your own power to create anything you want when you are free.
So provide yourself with extra love and patience at this time, while you may find yourself feeling irrational emotions and extreme moodiness, as well as experience the same from others. The more you can open your heart, the more healing is available. Closing it to try to avoid more pain may seem like the logical thing to do, but is actually counterproductive and will create greater pain and loss. In order to move through to the other side, you must open wider and deeper.
So let yourself feel and experience closeness, express a good healing cry, speak sensitively and tenderly with self and others, and share your heart in this now moment, as you would always have wished to have felt. See and experience life, one day at a time. A good thorough cleansing of body, mind, heart, and spirit will be of great benefit for creating a new foundation. Self-nurturing will be in store, as you will likely have over-sensitivities crop up and perhaps even feel like the crab wanting to hide in your shell sometimes when this happens.
Realize that people are responding through emotions rather than reason at this time, so open your understanding to encompass mindful presence of this reality so that you don’t take things personally. Old emotional wounds can easily be triggered, but this is simply a message of what you can look at and release, or a sign that the change is underway, as things sometimes get worse before they get better.
Since Cancer is connected with that “mothering” energy and comforting, this expression of caring may sometimes come through food and the tendency to overeat. So that is just something to be also mindful of, as we use food to numb ourselves, just as much as other substances and diversions. A little extra food love is wonderful (I actually made some vegan pancakes this morning myself when my breakfasts are usually only smoothies), but be aware if you find yourself engaging in something more than just a nurturing treat. Perhaps there is something underlying that wants your attention and by going into that, you will nurture yourself with lasting effects rather than the temporary comfort the food will supply.
Cancer is a very fertile sign, which is all about supporting creation and growth. So this is a great time for initiating and activating creative energy into passions you are bringing forth and building. It’s also a potent time for expansion and harnessing what you integrate into some really powerful fuel for personal evolution. For some it may be about actually child birth, but I always share that “birthing” energy isn’t just about a biological expression. That is only “one” way to express this. We need to learn to expand our patterned emotional and mental perspectives on all definitions and concepts, so we can really take advantage of the limitless possibilities that energy provides us.
Yesterday I was prompted to take a mid-day beach walk break – not surprising since you know my ocean love, but intuitively guided and spontaneous nonetheless. It was an unusually warm day from onset of morning and hitting 88 degrees in the afternoon. I was already feeling the Cancer Full Moon’s energy in the mystery of the warm breeze and the very deliberate and powerful Capricorn Sun beaming down upon me. Being called to the ocean makes sense and there was an unusual energy felt throughout the day, including during my time at the beach. It felt exciting and also like an unknown but welcome friend was entering my experience. There was a low tide because of the Moon, and tons of starfish were abound, which was such a gift. It seemed like all of the Star People were gathering for the Full Moon celebration and I felt a sense of acknowledgment for the changes I’m implementing.
You’ll find photos I took of my starfish friends throughout this post, including some really interesting energy captures around them (especially shown in the last 3 that were taken one after the other in an area that had many starfish in the water and on the rocks – one of which you see that was both holding on with a couple of arms, while the other three were released – interesting symbolism).
Having written about their symbolism before in my post: Starfish Symbolism – Exploring the Magick of these “Star People” their energy felt very supportive to working with the emotions and the opportunity for renewal that is available so I thought you may find viewing these images to have a positive effect on you.
Starfish are symbols of Moon Magick, beauty, tidal movement, divine love, protection over troubled waters, inspiration, guidance, intuition, keystone of connection, healing, and regeneration. The most profound and amazing characteristic is their regenerative ability, as they can completely rebirth not only an arm, but an entirely new Starfish from a detached arm and part of the central disc. Speaks to our own abilities to rise again and recreate ourselves from what ever place we are in life.
Know that you are being supported with the courageous steps that you are taking. Wishing you a very deep healing Full Moon.
You might have noticed that I spend a lot of time by the ocean and walking along the beach just receiving its gifts and exploring the magick she has to offer. Why? Some of that has to do with it being native to the Pisces in me and the rest is because of its ability to rebalance, inspire, and renew.
I love feeling the sand between my toes and find the beach to be an Earthly mirror of the starry night skies, as each sand crystal glimmers in the reflection of the sun. So when I am walking upon these “Earth Stars” and feeling the watery liquid love of the ocean, from which all things in the Universe are comprised of, come from, and will return to, I am reminded of the miracle of life and what a gift every great and small thing is.
I so enjoy exploring the tide pools when I visit the beach and am excited by all of the amazing little beings I find, never knowing what will reveal itself that day. They each always have a wonderful message to reveal as well.
I love photographing the beauty and mystery of nature and when at the beach there is always so much natural art to capture.
I’ve written a lot of posts that touch on the ocean and symbolism of the creatures I find there. I also use many of my beach-time photos as demonstrative of the inspiration I am writing about. I’ve shared on the symbolism of some of the beings because their messages have been especially resonating and timing-aligned. Some of these include:
And today, after spending time on Saturday along the ocean’s edge, I continue to have our beautiful sea anemone friends on my mind and in my heart. So I thought I would share their wisdom and symbolism, as perhaps you may also find their messages to speak to you.
Maybe they are an animal totem for you, they have appeared in dreams, or you have a special resonance with them. For whatever reason, I hope you will enjoy learning about these angelic, star-like flowers of the sea that captured my heart so much they were a main feature of the ethereal, underwater cosmos of my painting, Dance of the Twin Flames.
To me, sea anemones are enchanting in their array of beautiful colors that dance in the water like a garden of blossoms in the wind. Their tentacles resemble petals of a flower, which is why they are known as the “flower of the sea faeries”. I actually didn’t know this, although felt this in their energy every time I was pulled into a gaze of their magnificence. So it was a beautiful reminder of my faery friends always being near.
And the Faery Realm they indeed provide a portal to. Sea anemones live in tidepools, which are areas that the water separates from the ocean and are doorways to the Faery Realm. They are messengers of new doorways of experience appearing and opening, but they caution you not to rush through them and to be very keen at feeling out for hidden dangers. In this way they teach you the power and strength of patience and cautious observation, before taking action.
You indeed have an opportunity, but not all opportunities are ones to take. So, it is in your best interest and the highest good, not to make rash assumptions upon first impression. Not everything is as it initially seems. This is a time for being extra observant to your feelings and to use your intuition to interpret the situation. Sea anemones also share the message of your need to be in your essence always and then letting people and opportunities come to you in reflection to that, rather than going after them. They herald new and unusual relationships entering your life, which includes beings from the Faery Realm. 😉
Key words of wisdom conveyed from our friends the sea anemones include beauty, graceful movement, use of color, and patience. They teach you to embrace the natural rhythm of you in harmony with the flow of life and teach you how to also dance with that graceful balance between anxiousness and temperance. It is important to keep aware of the ebb and flow of experiences, especially communication and all forms of relationships.
As a meat-eating creature, they also demonstrate the power to seize and obtain ideas, but this comes with great patience and trust in receiving what it needs to survive. Sea anemones are messengers of keeping your center and deepening your faith in Spirit’s timing. In this way you are using both mind and heart, as you keep aware and cautious with wise discernment, but also are dancing in partnership with your intuitive nudges and deep feelings.
When sea anemone reflects your taking notice of it, it is to your benefit to trust in the water of emotions and be still in the knowledge you possess.
Thank you my beautiful sea anemone friends. Your messages are gently embraced with much gratitude.
How does sea anemone speak to you today in terms of what you are experiencing?
Pieces of Peace – Discharging & Recharging Your Energy with Nature & Natural Creative Self Expression
Wherefore art thou my little crystal friend?
One of my new crystals I just posted about and have been working with has decided to go off into another dimension momentarily, literally disappearing in thin air. I’m getting that she will come back when we are both ready.
A couple of days ago (and I feel it’s partially tied into her disappearance) I had another of my power surge outages, but kind of big. Sometimes my emotions, breakthroughs, and shifts affect weather and Earth conditions, and sometimes they affect power. You know just what I’m talking about if you’re reading this and nodding your head. 😉
Instantly all the power in the house went out for about 40 minutes the second a surge of intensity hit in terms of me saying inwardly, “this is not happening anymore!!!” to a situation in the past I had felt powerless to. I guess I had a little too much vehement emotion behind it. Oops!
I called the power company and they said a big incident at a substation locally had happened with power out in the whole area. Not being able to do much, I got quiet and decided it was a good time for a Reiki healing attunement to assist, knowing I have the ability to shift my experience.
The minute I centered into the attunement, the power all came back on. lol! And needless to say, so did my experience thereafter. I felt centered, balanced, and peaceful.
As I recently shared with a dear friend and client, “We are not powerless, but powerful!!”
So, I am trusting that my lovely Ice Quartz will show up too. Joy liked her as well. I had just that evening placed it on her third eye and she was absorbing her energy meditatively. I also had slept with her for the first time that night under my pillow. And the next day after having put her back where she goes during the day, she was gone.
Alongside a lot of amping up in terms of synchronous magick taking place, there have also been some more zany and powerful energy stuff going on lately indeed. I know I’m not the only one, as I have spoken with a few people experiencing similar things. All of it demonstrating our ability to affect everything around us and the importance of being mindful of what we are feeling and thinking (because it WILL manifest), knowing we are not helpless, but have the ability to change anything. It also demonstrates that nothing happens arbitrarily, as we are connected to every thread of life and experience around us, in mirror to what’s going on within us.
Even my computer has been daily absorbing tremendous energy and memory useage even when I’m doing nothing. Then it slows down or gets stuck and I have to manually go and control/alt/delete. I like to think of it as clearing and repatterning with each “End Process” I hit and a reminder to not allow over stimulus to take place so I can keep my eye on the focus of greater flow at hand.
My computer just seems to be “processing,” and “percolating” information in the ethers, just as I know I am doing in receiving and integrating when not even conscious of it. Perhaps it is also connected to the fact my sweet little Russian Tortoise, Gaia, only hangs out at the base of the processing unit all day and night. She DOES love her binary codes and is learning to telepathically connect with me more. 😉
Needless to say this all brings me back to the consistent importance of finding the right balance, unique to each, that maintains that inner peace, or knowing how to always re-center in order to not allow over-stimuli to sneak up on us.
Nature, the natural, anything earth connected and creatively expressive of your heart authenticity will assist in making any needed energy adjustments. The more you can integrate these on a daily basis, in some form and way, you will find things to remain more level.
I’ve been noticing my spending a lot of extra snuggly connecting time with little Joy (my bunny) and was told to take out my treasures of nature connections and have them on or near me, when I’m not actually out in nature, in order to remind me of the natural processes and cycles, as well as to keep me tapped in to the root of who I am at heart. This will, and does, assist in helping to discharge and recharge.
I have an increase of energy moving through me lately and that I am channeling in my work and in the interactions with clients and others, that it has become increasingly important to find ways to maintain peaceful balance. One way is by my physically needing to retreat and be away from all external stimuli and another way is to be with nature, have it with me, or be creating naturally like a child.
I know that for me, creating and doing expressions that come from my hands in very natural ways, is a necessary component to being me, as well as to experiencing balanced health and joy. I don’t believe in there being any certain way to create from your heart. And it doesn’t have to be about you doing so as your profession, as much as it about you doing so for the greater good of your well being.
I love the times I can create like a vulnerable child, lost in my own little make-believe world where I enchant the creations and adornments I produce into life, with the vision of my heart.
Being in nature, natural, and infusing nature into my life is key for me and I know I am not alone. It’s something we all once knew how to be innately – in harmony with the Earth and cycles of Cosmic flow and life.
I was reminded to go to those places in my heart and mind, when I’m in the midst of over-energy, of my times spent on the beaches at Crystal Cove here, hiking in the hills overlooking the ocean, my snow time in nature by Lake Tahoe, and all the amazingly beautiful animal spirit guides that have been enchanting my life recently – the starfish, seagulls, pelicans, dolphins, hawks, chickadees, and owls. And specifically, I was guided back into the feeling I felt, while in Reno, as I intuitionally created nature/shaman adornments that captured the essence of all of this, as well as when I created a new painting there that was a gentle flow of the same element.
I felt like a little enchanted child in my world away from worlds and it is in that place I am able to rebalance in peaceful mindfulness of my energy flows.
As mentioned before, I am no jewelry maker and do not intend to be, but I intuitively knew and received vision immediately upon finding them, that when I was gifted these three treasures of hawk, seagull, and a giant mussel shell that I would somehow interpret them into wearable adornments of nature art – more in the vein of a child from the ancient realms.
I did not want to do anything to take away from their natural state. I merely wanted a simple way to create them into something I could integrate into adorning myself with – reminding me of something a Mermaid or Native American Indian would have worn or created without anything overly fancy, and definitely in the vein of heart vulnerability.
In keeping “simple” it would also maintain their integrity of innately natural beauty and energy I wanted to have enhanced and threaded into my experience when worn. Plus, I would add a little “Tania-essence” integrated in. 🙂
What I created was a pendant and two earrings. All of which took no more than a half hour of child-like blissful fun.
Yes, you do have time in your life to do the things you love and want to do!
The hawk earring is 9 1/2 inches long. The seagull earring is 8 inches long. I chose Swarovski crystal beads in the colors that most resonated with how they energetically make me feel, which were icy blues, pale aqua, light emerald and olive green, as well as golden yellow. I adore them and they can be worn alone or together, depending on the energy I want to embody.
The pendant I created is one that likely not many but myself would wear because it is so boldly big. I absolutely love it! It is nearly 6 1/2 inches long and 2 1/2 inches wide! I have never found such a large mussel shell before and never one as gorgeously colored as this one. It was hidden under some rocks in a tide pool that normally isn’t seen, as the tide is usually out when I’m there. And it just happened to catch my eye as I walked by. The colors are so rainbow-vibrant and remind me of a peacock feather. I knew it was to be a pendant right away. It reminded me much more of an abalone shell though.
When I found the crystals for the earrings, again, something happened to catch my eye. I saw this one large silver starfish clasp and given the magickal connection with them on the beach recently and my love for them, I knew it was for the pendant. I very much felt this pendant creation to be a mermaid/ethereal sea goddess energy embodiment and this adornment was perfect. I didn’t know how it would work, but I just knew somehow it would. I kept the shell in its natural state on the outside and to help keep the iridescent vibrancy of its coloring that shows up when it is under the water, I brushed it with linseed oil and let it dry. It now permanently has that glossy watery essence and deep coloring. The star fish clasp happened to be the exact fit to place the top of the mussel in behind it and I used a nontoxic glue to affix it permanently. It was so perfect and is my favorite magick piece to wear on a longer thick silver rope chain right at my chest.
The process of discovering, creating, and wearing these pieces of peace from nature is serenity of heart manifested. And in times of “power surges” or over-stimulation, I know I have several choices to seek solitude for rebalance either in physically going into nature, being with or wearing a piece of it, energetically supporting myself with a Reiki healing attunement, actively engaging in natural creative self expression, or tuning in to creative visualization to transport my emotions and energy into the realms of our harmonic Earth.
Here is some information on the symbolism of mussels from Dreamtation:
Association: – Protection, – sometimes qualifying, sometimes protecting, – beauty of the form. Question: – Which feelings must I protect? Which structures do I appreciate?
Key words: Cover, – connection with the sea. Description: A mussel has served once a mollusc, a sea creature, as a dwelling. Mussels were estimated by people close to the earth always high and were used as devices, jewelry, in ceremonies as well as when currency. General meaning: Your connection with the sea, – your tools or useful devices, – what you estimate. Association: Female sexual organs, – any hard bowl. Transcendent meaning: A clear understanding of your own hard bowl.
The mussel can be seen as a magic symbol which rescues the strength of the transformation in itself. She owns the ability to protect, and is a sort of vessel by which she stands in respect with the female emotional side of the nature. It is a female sexual symbol whose form reminds of the Vulva. At the spiritual level the mussel in the dream is a miniature for the expiry of life and death. It is the picture of the grave from which the person will rise one day, a symbol of the fertility.

Here is some great seagull symbolism shared in Animal Totems: Dictionary of Birds by StarStuffs:
Seagulls are spiritual messengers that demonstrate that a higher communication with guides is taking place. He shows how to see above situations with a higher clarity and teaches that there are many perspectives to consider. Seagull shows a sense friendship and community and the cooperation that is needed for the whole to operate successfully. He teaches how to ride the currents of the mental, emotional and physical worlds. Are you going with the flow or fighting it? Are you cooperating with others? Are you open to your guides? Seagull can teach you many lessons of looking, living and being. It is time to listen and watch for the nuances and timing of action.
And here is some other interesting seagull symbolism:
The seagull is associated with Lir, a Sea-God in Celtic lore. Like many birds, the seagull flies between the earth and the heavens, bringing messages to mortals. Gulls are highly intelligent with a complex social structure developed partly to ward off predators. Gulls live in colonies and sometimes utilize tools. Gulls can catch a wind current and, without flapping their long, pointed wings, sustain a course that makes them appear motionless. What we like most about gulls is their gentle and quiet nature, although, when they feel threatened by a predator, members of the gull colony join forces to ‘mob’ the intruder. The gull’s highly developed social structure allows them to co-operate in this way. The larger species of gull are particularly resourceful, inquisitive and intelligent. The gull teaches us to emulate these qualities, and also how to ride the fickle currents of our emotional lives. Their message seems to be about ‘going with the flow’, since their aerobatics prove the advantage of seeking the path of least resistance. Native American cultures have made the seagull a symbol of the care-free attitude, and of versatility and freedom. Among seafarers, the seagull was thought to be the soul of a dead sailor, and for this reason it was never shot (remember what happened to the Ancient Mariner). A gull that settled on a ship’s rigging or gunwale was considered an omen for a happy journey.
Needless to say, a lot of energy is shifting, old structures are releasing, old foundations are being uprooted and slowly replaced with stronger more authentic ones, and with all of this a lot of powerful and crazy energetic things can and will take place. But there are ways you can support the shifts, regain empowerment in the process, and maintain a healthy balance of staying conscious of your energy and consciously bringing yourself in alignment with nature and the natural rhythms within.
I received a lot of insight in my short time with my Ice Quartz friend and realize for now she is where we both need her to be.
To my sweet Ice Quartz friend: May you know how valuable the deep inner peace and wisdom you have imparted to me is, which I hold in heart as you continue your journey. I look forward to your return in divine timing. Until then, may peace be the wind under your wings.
Every day of the weekend I get out in nature hiking in the mountains or hills and walking on the beach to be in the elements I love so much and to recharge. Each time is always a beautiful and invigorating experience, but yesterday had to be one of, if not the most magickal beach days yet.
The tide was out unusually farther than it has been in ages (according to the wildlife naturalist that strolls the beaches to educate, as this beach is protected as an underwater haven), which revealed a rare sighting of so many Starfish in one place in the wild that I have ever seen – had to be like a 100 or more! These particular ones we saw are “Ochre Stars” and range from orange to purple and every variation in between.
These stunning beings brought out the little girl in me that was in awe at each discovery, and exploring in wonder of these miracles and beauty all around. I was skipping, giggling, eyes popping out in welcome surprise…I was simply, SO happy inside. Intuitively this felt to be a sign of abundant inspiration, miracles, and rebirthing, but I also kept saying and thinking to myself – “Wow! Look at all these ethereal Star People I’m so blessed to be in the presence of that have decided to reveal themselves on this rare day.” – yes they actually ARE connected to all of these symbolisms, including our Cosmic family.
And as the artist I am, I love to photograph what I’m seeing through my heart and eyes, in order to bring the beauty and profoundness of life to others.
Starfish have always been one of my top five favorite ocean beings. Their symbolism is so magickal and beautifully powerful to me and in my life. So to see SO many all at once yesterday, and at this particular time, was a true gift reminiscent of the abundant stars in the sky they are mirroring.
A couple of the photos I took came out with spectacular captures of rainbow lighting that were surrounding these amazing Starfish. It really helped demonstrate the pure and magickal energy that was abound and what I was experiencing in the joy of this gifted encounter.
Because this was such a profoundly moving experience for me, I felt guided to post the photos and express a bit about the powerful symbolism of Starfish to share the magick with you.
The Starfish is a universal and celestial symbol of infinite divine love. It has been used to represent the Virgin Mary – or Stella Maris, which means Star of the Sea – an ancient title she goes by because she is believed to lovingly intercede as a guide and protector of those who travel over troubled waters or seek their livelihoods on the sea. For this reason she is also seen as an emblem of salvation during trying times, which the Starfish reflects in this mirroring symbolism. In addition to love, the Starfish also emanates the energies of inspiration, guidance, brilliance, intuition, and vigilance, with its connection to the stars.
In Egyptian mythology, the Starfish is one of the many titles of the Goddess Isis – a name by which tempest-tossed sailors adored and honored her as. It is thought that the attributes of a marine deity may have been bestowed on Isis by sea-faring Greeks of Alexandria and that this assumption is then thought to point to Sirius, the bright star of Isis, being the Stella Maris.
There is no coincidence, I feel, in this shared name by Isis and Mary since there are many similarities between them leading to a connection. In either and both cases, the Starfish comes to symbolize the same attributes that they convey and I found this very fitting to my personal connection with both.
The Starfish is considered a keystone species that affects many other organisms in an ecosystem and plays a critical role in maintaining the structure of an ecological community.
The Starfish is also a symbol of healing and regeneration due to its amazing ability to regenerate an arm and an entirely new Starfish. They are able to simply drop an arm and scurry away to safety at will in order to outsmart predators. Because quite a few of the vital organs are housed in Starfish arms this enables the possibility to grow an entire new Starfish from an arm and part of the central disc, if ripped off it.
Starfish wisdom includes a connection to the Star People :), regeneration, Moon magick, beauty, and tidal movement. They are a way for us to realize our potentials, promises of dreams, ways to connect with the mystical, and to flow with the waters of life in trust. For me, it was all of this and a warm communing with my Cosmic family that gave me great joy.
I was drawn to one smooth stone on the beach this special day that reminded me of a moonstone, of the hidden miracles of life, and the sparkling stars in the Cosmos because of the way it sparkles with shimmer and pixie dust at just the right angles and is pearl in color. A beautiful gift of the sea and my friends, as a reminder of this day and the energy I know is there around me to call on and tap into when needed.
Everything around you is a miracle waiting to be discovered. You are always surrounded by support, love, and the ability to create anew. I hope you each find time in your life to take pause of the beautiful messages and presences around you. To listen when your intuition, heart and body take you on a journey outside of your normal routine, to honor the brilliance and magnificence of every Earthly and Cosmic gift, and to be in the joy of All That Is.
I love this poem by e. e. cummings that my dear friend Jenny Yemaya shared with me yesterday. It perfectly mirrors this day and the last line is so true!
maggie and milly and molly and may
went down to the beach (to play one day)
and maggie discovered a shell that sang
so sweetly she couldn’t remember her troubles, and
milly befriended a stranded star
whose rays five languid fingers were;
and molly was chased by a horrible thing
which raced sideways while blowing bubbles: and
may came home with a smooth round stone
as small as a world and as large as alone.
For whatever we lose (like a you or a me)
it’s always ourselves we find in the sea
